The Card Concept- Christmas Tree

It's time for another The Card Concept challenge! I created my card based on the inspiration photo below. For this last challenge of 2018 we want you to share a photo of your Christmas tree with us, OR your favourite card that you made this year.

I am sharing my favourite card that I made this year. Alcohol inks made a big comeback this year with bold new colours and techniques, and more supplies dedicated to making it easier to use this fun medium! The card below uses shades of blue and some gold metallic ink to create a galactic background worthy of a 'stellar' friend. And of course, a gold glitter sentiment:) Here's a link to my original post. In Card Concept fashion, I'd call this card Clean & Layered

Head on over to The Card Concept blog to see what the rest of the team posted this week. Play along with us by sharing what your tree or favourite card looks like. I can't wait to see!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

CASology- HOLLY

It's time for another CASology challenge and this time the cue card is HOLLY. Of all the challenges I've participated in, this cue card is my favourite because my sister's name is Holly! :) The card I made today will definitely be going to her on Christmas Day.

A dramatic focal point against a stark white background gives interesting contrast on a clean and simple card. I maybe went a bit over the edge of clean and simple for this one but since it's mostly one layer let's take it easy on me. :)

I used alcohol inks to create a fun background, then die cut a large snowflake out of it from the Snow Flurry dies by Concord & 9th and left all the 'inside' pieces intact. I heat embossed a coordinating snowflake in sparkle embossing powder on top of the die cut and adhered it to the white A2 card base. The sentiment was cut from black cardstock using the Holly Jolly banner die (also from Concord & 9th) with a silver mirror specialty paper behind it.

This is a two week challenge this time around and this is also my last challenge with the CASology team. My littles are getting more and more involved in extra-curricular activities and life is pretty busy around our house. You will still see me creating though! I'll continue to post here when I can and you can always find me on Instagram. :) Thanks so much to Melissa and this fantastic team of designers. I had a blast!

The Card Concept #104- Elegant Holiday

It's time for another The Card Concept challenge! I created my card based on the inspiration photo below. The silver sparkle and shimmer and the frosty green as well as the winter elements like branches and pine cones stood out to me and were my inspiration today.

I created a clean and layered card using similar colours to the inspiration photo and with snowflakes aplenty as my winter element.

The A2 card base was created from shimmer cardstock. I die cut lots of snowflakes from glitter and shimmer paper in various colours and adhered them to the card. Papertrey Ink has some lovely shimmer cardstock while My Favorite Things carries fabulous sparkle cardstock.  For the sentiment I heat embossed the 'Merry Christmas' (CAS-ual Fridays Stamps- retired) with silver sparkle embossing powder on the same shimmer cardstock as the base and adhered it using foam tape.

Head on over to The Card Concept blog to see how the rest of the team was inspired and what styles they used on their cards. Play along with us using any of the styles we highlight...I can't wait to see what you come up with!

This is the last official challenge of 2018 and it closes on December 24th. We look forward to seeing you participate in new challenges in January! Thanks for stopping in and have a great day!

Dies: Flurry (CAS-ual Fridays Stamps); Snowflake Trio (Reverse Confetti); Mini Snowflakes (Lawn Fawn)

CASology- NORTH

It's time for another CASology challenge and this time the cue card is NORTH.

For me, north this time of year means lots of snow, the North Pole, and Santa and his reindeer. I created a cute clean and simple card using the Driving to the Holidays set by Flora & Fauna

On an A2 card base I stamped and masked the Volkswagen and antlers, then added the nose in red and sentiment in a crisp black ink. Some red glitter was added to the nose and I drew a faint grey marker line under the wheels to 'ground' the image. All in all, very clean and simple and very cute!

Thanks for stopping in and have a great day!
