Whimsical Birthday

I wanted to create a playful, whimsical and un-fussy feminine birthday card for a friend and using Color Challenge #26 for MFT Card Challenges helped to pull it all together. Nothing beats a fresh and fun colour combo to play around with. I'm super happy with the result. :)

I used Whimsical Wishes for the background and the 'happy' comes from the newest Blueprints collection. A few sparkly sequins and some Stickles finish it off.

Thanks for stopping in today. I hope your Wednesday has been lovely so far!

CAS-ual Fridays Feature

I have a tutorial for you today that shows how to create a fun, bleached background using supplies you already have on hand. My CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Twinkle set and Stars Fri-Dies took centre stage on my card today!

You can see that when you set it aside to dry, the Versamark really soaks in and creates a bleached look. Don't be alarmed if it doesn't show up well at first; the longer it sits the more pronounced the watermark ink will get. Have patience! :)

For the final card, I added more stamped stars from the Twinkle set. The largest die in the Stars Fri-Dies set was die cut and covered in super sparkly embossing powder. The sentiment was heat embossed and popped up with foam adhesive. Next time you pull out your Fri-Dies, don't forget that they can be used for so many more things than just a regular ol' die cut!

Thanks for stopping in today and have an amazing day!

Floral wedding wishes

I won a giveaway on Instagram a few weeks ago and received this fantastic stamp set from a newer company, The Ton. Wild Peonies is just gorgeous! I am really loving floral builder sets lately and I think The Ton has hit it out of the park with several of their flowery sets.

I embossed one of the open images in sparkly gold powder and used my Gansai Tambi watercolors to paint them in. A sweet little label die cut and embossed sentiment from Lawn Fawn finished it off.

I'm keeping it short and sweet today as we're on vacation for a few days. I hope everyone else is enjoying their summer as much as we are!

Celebrate with balloons

In one of my recent purchases, the Congrats set by Waffle Flower Crafts made its way to me and I just looooved the super cute heart balloon included in it.

I did some masking to create a fun balloon bouquet and after colouring them with Copic markers, added the strings myself with a black gel pen. I used my MISTI to stamp the sentiment, then clear embossed over top for a really bold look. I love how cheerful this turned out!

That one balloon trailing off mimicked the sketch for for Freshly Made Sketches 195 this week.

Thanks for stopping in today! I hope your weekend was fantastic. Ours was! We went to a joint 75/80th birthday party for my grandparents. I thought I'd share a cute picture of my sweeties from the party, with their own balloon bunch that they managed to steal and take home...haha. :)

Celebrate Die-cutting

Happy rainy Tuesday to you! I have one little one (ok, he's not so little anymore) off at golf day camp every morning this week and the other one happily makes cards beside me so it's a good day. :)

I played along in the Little Tangles challenge #58- Die-Cutting and used the fun Tiny Triangles die for my focal point. I watercoloured a piece of cardstock in a blue ombre tone, then cut it out using the die. I backed it with a piece of Fog cardstock then popped it up using foam adhesive onto a white card base that was inked with Fog ink. The embossed sentiment comes from the lovely Just For You set.

Thanks for stopping in today and have a GREAT day- whether it's rainy OR sunshiney. :)

Birthday Flowers

Happy Sunday! I had some time this week to play around in a few challenges. Creativity is good for my soul. I just feel BETTER when I get in my corner and stamp away happily. :)

I used a sketch from WPlus9 for my inspiration and pulled out Doodle Buds and my Copic markers. After lots of colouring and shading, I added tiny dots of sparkly Stickles around the flowers.

Thanks for stopping in! I hope the rest of your weekend is fabulous.

All stamping all the time

I had big plans for cardmaking this summer. The kids are old enough to play on their own and don't need to be supervised 24 hours a day so I figured I'd be happily stamping away in my corner while they played.  Hahahahahaha. :)  Not so much.  We seem to be quite busying and are having loads of fun!

I *did* get some time to play around with last month's MFT release. I used Watercolor Flowers and Written in Watercolor for this mostly one-layer card. After stamping the flowers, I heat embossed the sentiment in gold. A few black flecks of ink here and there, some gold sequins and voila! Done.

That gold sentiment was double embossed. I think a MISTI would have made this easier although I DID manage to line everything up the second time on my own. I just heat embossed it, then stamped it again in Versamark and added more powder, then heat embossed a second time.

Happily...a MISTI is on its way to me. Yippee!! :) Can't wait!

I'm linking up to Virginia's View #16- 100% Stamped. You have plenty of time to play along too, so go link up your fabulous stamped creations.

Going Dotty

My daughter had her ballet recital a few weeks ago and it was conveniently located down the street from my favourite LSS- The Paper Pickle. Not only is it a top notch store carrying the latest and greatest, but it also houses baked goods. Seriously though.  Cupcakes and stamps in the same store. Heaven.

I picked up a few goodies while I was there, one being this gorgeous English Rose Bouquet die from Memory Box. The other goodies were more of the cupcake variety. ;)

I used a piece of Tim Holtz watercolour cardstock and watercoloured a pretty background (using my daughter's paints lol!) and once dry, die cut the flowers from it. I adhered it to some dotty vellum, added an embossed sentiment and some sequins.

I'm linking up to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge which is to use dots or spots
I hope you all have a fabulous Thursday and enjoy your day!
