Cardabilities #76

Welcome to another fabulous sketch (#76 to be exact!) for Cardabilities.
My favourite thing about these sketches are looking at them and seeing flowers or swirls and thinking, "What can I do differently?" This time I used hot air balloons instead of the flowers depicted in the sketch.
What would YOU use? Flowers? Balloons? Stars? Use your imagination and link up your new creation using the sketch over at the blog. You have LOTS of time to play around  and your creation may be featured!

Supplies:
Stamps: (Up, Up & Away + Sentiments) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko
Paper: (Color & Composition 6x6 collection) Webster's Pages

Pinterest as inspiration

Every once in awhile the creative juices dry up and you need to turn elsewhere for inspiration.  Let's all thank Pinterest for that lol!!  I found a GORGEOUS card on the October Afternoon Pinterest board and knew that I had the supplies to create my own version of it. That Woodland Park 8x8 collection is still one of my all time favourites. It's such a huge collection with endless possibilities. Perfect for card makers!
You can check out the original card by Roree Rumph on the October Afternoon blog.

Everything on this card is from October Afternoon except the Fillable Frames #4 die by Papertrey Ink, and the Stickles glitter by Ranger. I gave this card to my mother-in-law for Mother's Day.

New Mom

Lots of stamp sets happening here on this card!!
This is a leftover from Mother's Day a few weeks ago that I didn't post earlier. I used that lovely patterned paper from the Maggie Holmes 6x6 Crate Paper collection as my inspiration. SO. PRETTY. I pieced together several stamp sets to create the unique sentiment.
Other news- I am LOVING those Paper Smooches Streamers dies! It's one of those products where I know I will use every die in the set and use them often. I am putting them to good use on everything lately. Making this card helped me see all my stamp sets in a new light...how can I piece other sentiments together to create something new and fun? :) Go try it!

It's your birthday!!

How cheerful would this card be to give a friend?  Young or...not so young, it could be enjoyed by any lady.  A pretty easy layout- just a lovely piece of patterned paper with a row of flowers and a happy sentiment.  How simple is that?! :) I love cards like this that come together quickly. I find if I'm taking too long to put a card together then I am probably not going to happy with the end result.  There shouldn't be too much 'over-thinking' in card making...after all, it's for fun right? Enjoy it!

Supplies:
Stamps: (Say What) Mama Elephant
Ink: (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko
Paper: (Summer Sunrise) Papertrey Ink; (My Girl 6x6 collection) My Mind's Eye

Happy 30th!

I haven't had the chance to get my Irresistibly Ikat set from Papertrey Ink inked up much, so I was happy to play around with it for this 30th birthday card. This card is pretty much self explanatory- it seemed a little dull once I had it put together, but that was nothing a good spritz of shine mist couldn't fix!!  There is just something *else* that the Rustic White cardstock offers over regular white.  A little added 'oomph' maybe? :)

I hope all you Canadians had a fabulous Victoria Day weekend!  I spent Sunday fishing with my kids, and most of my small community, and afterwards enjoyed a lovely barbecue at the neighbours with a GREAT firework display!!  Loved every minute of it! Here's my little fisher-woman on the banks of the sunny Sydenham River.

Stamps: (Irresistibly Ikat)
Ink: (Hibiscus Burst, Sweet Blush, Royal Velvet)

Yay!!

Happy Friday to you all! Making birthday cards is pretty easy when I have my cute 6 year old son helping me out. :) He's my 'go-to' guy for making cards for his age group.  This card met his approval.  Comic books are one his main interests right now, so this comic paper from October Afternoon was the perfect choice on a card for one his little buddies. I used a journal card, paired with a fun sentiment, and lastly splattered some spray mist on it all. Have a fabulous weekend, and if you're Canadian, have a great Victoria Day- be safe!

Specialty Ink: (Warm Calico color mist) Studio Calico

Bright Hello

This card is one bright enough to make you need a pair of sunglasses! I submitted it to a recent Paper Crafts magazine call and it didn't get picked up so I can share it with you here instead. :) I looooove that barn board stamp from Bo Bunny.  It is such a great background stamp! This card is pretty straight forward...stamp background, die cut pieces and adhere all together.  Not much to it!

Ink: (Dark Chocolate) Papertrey Ink
Cardstock: (Limeade Ice, Dark Chocolate, Aqua Mist, Ocean Tides, Summer Sunrise, Lemon Tart) Papertrey Ink

New design team at Cardabilities

Happy Monday to all you crafty cardmakers out there! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! We celebrated Mother's Day here in my home and for once my husband was NOT away for the special day, so I actually got to relax and enjoy myself.  It was LOVELY! I even was given a nice gift card to one of my favourite scrapbooking stores, so I will definitely be using that up quickly.

My weekend was made all the better by learning that I will be returning to the Cardabilities design team for another term: June- August. I'm so excited to see what the rest of the team comes up with for each sketch, and it's really nice to develop some crafty friendships with them! :) Why don't you pop on over to the Cardabilities blog and see who the rest of the team is?! Enjoy your day!

My son's school is celebrating Education Week and to end the week I had the bright idea to make a card for his teacher 20 minutes before we were to head out to the bus stop.  This is what a 20 minute card looks like lol!!  It's 3.5" square and uses Hero Arts Neon inks paired with School Time by Papertrey Ink.  Quick, one layer and bright! All my favourite things put together. :)

Warm healing wishes

A woman in the book club I attend at the local library has had some health issues lately and is stuck at home recovering. I thought I'd send her some warm healing wishes on behalf of our club to help brighten her spirits!
I used the Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm collection for coordinating papers and stickers, and then added a sentiment and some sparkle! It was easy to put together and flat for inexpensive mailing.

Speaking of book clubs, at the last meeting we discussed Calling Invisible Women by Jeanne Ray.  It was pretty divided down the middle as to who liked it and who didn't, but for my part I enjoyed it!

Ink: (Spice Tin) Jenni Bowlin for Ranger
Paper: (Orange Zest) Papertrey Ink; (Bright Bauble from Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm 6x6 collection) American Crafts

Happiness and Bliss- Vintage Bliss!

I love using real barn board for projects around my house and garden, so it's no surprise that I love barn board patterned paper as well! The colourful flowers printed on top really make the paper brighter, cheerier and prettier in general. Love it! This card was put together using bits and pieces of leftover die cuts, chipboard and stamped bits...I just dug it out of my stash and slapped it together as a card. :) Some days it is just THAT easy, lol!

Stamps: (Mat Stack 4 collection) Papertrey Ink

Love & Happiness

Here's a clean and simple, one layer card in an interesting colour combination for you today! As usual, it started out with great plans, and I changed my mind half way through and turned it into an all-purpose, any occasion kind of card. :) The best kind to keep on hand if you ask me. The only thing I would change about this card is to have added sequins instead of gems...put that on my 'to buy' list!

I love that Watercolor Wonder set by Papertrey Ink.  So many colour combinations possible when you're mixing and matching all those watercolor streaks and splashes. My Mama Elephant stamp order arrived a few days ago and I've been busy getting them inky too.  I adore Mama Elephant stamps; they are fresh, fun and very trendy.

Supplies:
Stamps: (Watercolor Wonder) Papertrey Ink; (So Breezy) Mama Elephant

Ink: (Melon Berry, Lavender Moon, Sweet Blush) Papertrey Ink; (Soft Sky, Charcoal) Hero Arts
Cardstock: (white) Papertrey Ink
Accents: (gems) Kaisercraft
