All I added was the twine (wrapped twice), button and stick pin, and punched the two hearts. Easy peasy and my wedding/love stash is growing bigger everyday because of these fab journaling cards!!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! We started our morning off here with pink (strawberry) milk and strawberry yogurt with red sprinkles. :) I just love making Valentine's Day a special day for my kids. We're even having heart shaped pizza for supper tonight!!

I adore Simple Stories and their paper collections because of the beautiful journalling card elements included in each collection. They make it so easy to put a nice card together. For this card I worked with the Generations collection. I used a vertical journalling card element, cut out a flower from another piece of paper, popped it up, added some pearls and that was that! Very easy, and great results!

I'm recovering from pneumonia right now...cough, cough... but managed to find some time this morning to participate in Papertrey Ink's Pinterest challenge. I used the above picture from Pinterest as my inspiration, and created a new card based on it. In the process of making it, I decided I had a few holes in my PTI collection I want to fill. I like making Valentines for my little ones because I tend to keep them a lot more simple, with a crisp, clean design. This one was REALLY easy! I die cut the dinosaur using my Big Kids cartridge in my Slice machine, snipped of a heart from the heart border die by Papertrey Ink, and stamped my sentiment. Not too time involved and it still carries a cute punch I think. :) I hope you all have one little (or big!) loveosaurus to give a Valentine to this year!

This was a simple concept in my head and for some reason, it took a lot longer to accomplish than I anticipated! I'm sure there are easier ways to get your alphabet dies to line up (such as, say, using a ruler and pencil lines) but those easy ways failed me at the time I made this card and so instead, I die cut the white paper and left all the letters in place instead of punching them out. I used removable tape to secure the cardstock piece down, and one at a time, picked out the letters, added adhesive and glued them back down within the template. THEN I carefully removed the tape and pulled the cardstock piece away. Like I said, not the fastest way of going about things, but it got the job done. :)

Of course, my inspiration came from Pinterest. :)

Happy Day! Hold your head up high and keep smiling, and all that other sweet stuff. Sometimes it's hard to remember, but here in our house, we try our best no matter what gets us down! Today in particular I'm down in the dumps as we've had some sad news about a friend, but I keep thinking about the life she led and her beautiful laugh and I'm keeping on... We have a pretty good life here and I for one am not going to spend it worrying about the things I cannot change. :) Enjoy your day everyone, and make it a HAPPY one.

I am finally getting around to showing you my card for the January SFYTT!! What a great sketch with endless possibilities!

I chose to use it for a Valentine's Day card that is STAMP FREE; my focal point/sentiment is all together in one cute sticker. I used papers and stickers from the Yours Truly collection by Echo Park. I popped the sticker up using foam dimensionals, and added a pearl flourish by Zva. This sketch goes in the vault for future use, that's for sure!! Did you play along with the SFYTT this month too?

Today I'm showing a very simple Valentine's Day card to put together using a die cut, an impression plate and a punch....a little bit of everything! :) I love the Mehndi Medallion impression plate and have had it for awhile but have not used it yet. It was time to rectify that!! The impression plate used for textured, the doily die, circle punch and paper doily. all worked together for a bright and pretty Valentine's Day card. The only other detail is that I roughed the edges up a bit, and went over them with Aqua Mist ink for further definition. Anyone else getting cracking on their Valentine's?

Pretty Princess Valentine

I think I'm 0/5 on picture taking these days. I dropped a light bulb from my photo booth (glass SMASHED everywhere!!) and what I replaced it with was far more yellow than I liked. I now have another 'whiter' light that will hopefully correct the problem...In the meantime, the next few cards are kind of yellow-ish, but you get the idea right? :)

This pretty princess-y valentine uses one of my new favourite sets Little Princess from Papertrey Ink, designed by the talented Melissa Bickford. I used the matching die cut to cut out the castle in Sweet Blush cardstock, then stamped the outline in black ink, used a Copic marker to colour in the little hearts and added some Stickles to the peaks. Very pink, very girly and sweet!

Project Life 2012

I jumped on to the Project Life bandwagon last year and created a 2011 album to celebrate our family and our wonderful life. I debated about whether to take it up again or not for 2012, but it turned out that it wasn't much of a debate afterall and so I purchased the Clementine core kit, binder, and page inserts. :)

I haven't received my kit yet, but have already started working away on my first few weeks without the binder, just to keep up. I just lay everything out on 2 12x12 pieces of cardstock and once I have it arranged, take a picture of it and tuck it into a regular 12x12 page protector until the Project Life ones come. I was able to properly do my title page as I one sheet leftover from the 2011 kit. I can't wait until the big variety pack comes back in stock, as well as Design A because I ended up ordering not quite what I wanted in terms of page protectors, but maybe I'll surprise myself by how much I like the 'new' layouts.

I chose to use 2 small pictures of my family, and my Slice machine to cut the '2012' and other bold words in black cardstock. The word 'enjoy' signifies my ONE LITTLE WORD for the year that I'm going to focus on. Papers are Lily Bee Designs Head Over Heels collection.

Are any of you doing Project Life as well? I'm determined to make this year a little more "scrappy." Last year when I started my album I wasn't really thinking outside the box, and kept it mostly to pictures and journalling- the bare bones. This is GREAT for those who don't have time to scrapbook but still want to preserve their memories. I however, am lucky to have some time to add extras and so this year that's what I'm going to do!

I'm experimenting with my iPhone in taking pictures of my cards and I'm afraid it's not working out all that well... I think I'll keep practising though because my trusty phone is ever so handy within my reach at all times. :) I used the Adobe Photoshop app to take the picture and edit it, but I 'sharpened' it too much and it looks a bit grainy...trust me, if I make the picture any larger it will be a complete MESS. I used October Afternoon Farmhouse papers and die cuts for the focal point of this card with a stamped sentiment from Enjoy the Ride by Papertrey Ink. Thanks for looking and enjoy your day!

How many of you are on Pinterest? Oh my goodness...it's been a few months since I've signed up and I admit- I'm addicted to it! I realize it's mostly me pinning things that I'll NEVER get around to making or trying, but hey, to see such beautiful inspiration rocks my world!! I decided to go out a limb last night and actually MAKE something that I saw on Pinterest!!! Can you believe it!?

Psychedelic cupcakes! Aren't they so cute...I'm thrilled with how they turned out. The recipe was disgustingly simple, although a bit time consuming. It uses a boxed white cake recipe, made just like the box says to. Then you divide the batter into 6 (or however many colours you want to use) bowls, add food colouring gels to each bowl to get the desired colour, and layer them in the cupcake liners. The gels work way better than regular food colouring drops as they are much brighter and bolder colours. I'm going to ice them with simple white icing, and WOW, you should see what one looks like when you bite in to it!!!

My first card of 2012! It's been awhile since I've posted, but as many of you know, the holidays are for catching up with family and friends, and keeping VERY BUSY in general! We had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, managed to avoid a nasty flu bug that everyone else got, received many delightful gifts, and in short, celebrated our butts off. :) :) I hope everyone else did too!!! Another quick and easy card for those last minute few that you might have forgotten! I simply cut out the tree and trunk from patterned paper, and punched the heart. Stamped sentiment, a touch of glitter glue and voila! Done! It might not be fancy, but it's easy to put together in under 10 minutes.

Is your holiday shopping done? I think I am...just a few last minute touches here and there and I should be good. We're hosting Christmas Day breakfast for my family (not a large crowd) so I'm really looking forward to that!!

I'm just squeezing in on the last few hours possible to get my card in on the Championing Award Medallions Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. You still have a few hours to play along too!

I decided to use a kit from Making Memories that I bought a long time ago and included a pre-made medallion just perfect for a beautiful baby card. All the card needed was some inked edges using Chamomile ink, some ribbon tails and that was it!

Sympathy cards are never fun to make, but once in awhile they are a necessity. I used the negative cut out from the Turning a New Leaf die and glued it right to my white cardstock base. Sentiment, gem and a spritz of Pearl Glimmer Mist and it's done. I've been keeping more and more of the negative spaces from my die cuts for use on cards like this...so easy to do and you might as well get as much 'bang for your buck' as you can!! :)

An easy, one layer Christmas card using only two stamp sets that could create endless combinations! By using Big & Bold Holiday Wishes, and Wreath for All Seasons, I created 10 cards quickly and with a few different sentiments so that each one was a teeny bit different. I love the rustic, natural look to this card and did a similar one layer card last year, using only two stamp sets as well.

We recently had family pictures done by Glenda Cochran of Art & Soul Photography. Oh my oh my oh my...who knew our family was so gorgeous!? :)

I just LOVE having pictures of my family and friends all over my house and am so proud to put this one (one of my faves) up on my wall. I can't wait to scrapbook too! I've been busy keeping my Project Life scrapbook up to date and having lots of fun embellishing extra stuff within it. I definitely plan on picking up another one for 2012. Are any of you doing Project Life? It's really easy and you can make it as basic or 'fussy' as you like!

Yes, just one more baby card, this time a gender neutral one. I love that sweet, soft green mossy colour for baby cards; it's just so pretty!! I've layered papers, stickers and die cuts all together with some pearls and sparkle for extra OOMPH! :) Once again, Simple Stories makes it easy!

How are you all coming along with your Christmas cards? I've been making 100 invitations for our municipality's Christmas party, tags for another customer and Christmas cards for an upcoming craft sale so I'm REALLY hoping that I have enough time to whip up a few of my own! I love making birthday cards for little girls as my OWN little 2 1/2 year old girly girl is my ultimate inspiration. Lots of 'pink', butterflies, glitter and doilies? Yes, it met her approval. I'm so lucky that she loves crafting as well. Give her some crayons and fresh white paper and it will keep her busy for hours! Stickers, stamps and scissors rate high up there too, but the scissors for now...well, she has that 'look' to her that something else would probably get cut besides paper...like hair! I'm not ready for that yet! :)

As I was posting this, I was thinking that one last Halloween card the day after wasn't that big of a deal...then I realized it was my ONLY Halloween card I've posted! Oops! Well, enjoy this cute little girl themed card today, and pretend I posted it yesterday- thanks!

We had a fun night of trick or treating here. My kids were finally old enough to do a few more houses than just the grandma and grandpas' homes. I had a hard-working farm boy and an adorable Snow White princess that I took around. They loved walking around and collecting candy, and remembered to say THANK YOU every time (that makes this momma happy!).

All Things Unity #43

Let's get BUGGY with All Things Unity #43!! That's right, this challenge calls for pulling out your Unity or Ippity stamps that feature BUGS. Butterflies, dragonflies, any sort of insect will do. Headed on over to the All Things Unity blog to get all the fine details about how to play along in this fun challenge and to see what the design team has come up with. I used the May 2009 Kit of the Month and created my own background by stamping the dragonfly in different colours repeatedly over the cardstock. I added some glitter to the centers and inked the edges white for a softer look. I also inked the card base edges and glittered up my sentiment...after all, there can never be enough glitter!! :) Have a great day everyone!

This was a easy to put together card that will be great for mass producing, AND won't cost extra postage. Perfect for the holidays! I chose to use a card by Maile Belles for my inspiration. She takes simple, elegant stamping to a whole new level! I changed up my card by using one of the tags from PTI's Holiday Tag collections, and I added a coloured cardstock card base.

I love Simple Stories. That's all, have a good day. :) Ah- just kidding. I have LOTS to say about one of my new favourite companies... I recently picked up some stickers and the 6x6 paper pad from the Happy Day collection and I'm loving it for creating some masculine, fun birthday cards. Simple was better for this layout- using just stickers layered on cardstock made for a quick and easy card that has a little sparkle (not too much though).

My first Christmas card for the season...I guess it's time to start thinking about that if I'm going to send any out on time this year! I only have 2 sales this fall to sell my cards at, so I don't need to produce as many as the last few years. I think this community is getting out of doing sales as they are a lot of work to organize, and not many of the 'younger' people appreciate them (although I DO!!). This card is mostly flat and therefore easy to mail; something a lot of 'buyers' look for.

With my son in a kindergarten class that is full of boys (not just boys, but still, there are a LOT of them!), some child-friendly, boyish birthday cards are needed around here! The Alphabet Soup collection by My Mind's Eye is not new by any means, but I've had it for just those occasions when I need a good ol' boy card. I think this time with the collection sitting out on my desk I made about 8 cards and still had lots of scraps and diecuts left for future use! All Things Unity this week is taking inspiration straight from the pages of your favourite magazines! I chose the October 2011 cover of Vogue magazine, and went with the Marilyn Monroe-esque theme. I kept the colour scheme, added glitter, pearls and rhinestones (although I think diamonds were more up Marilyn's alley...) and went with a feminine stamp/sentiment combination.

Welcome to another Hambo Hoedown, and sadly, my last... This is the last challenge for us Bacon Bits on the current team, but I am so excited (and I'm sure you are too) to see what the new team will come up with!! This was a friendly, fun, welcoming and organized team to work for/with and I really, truly enjoyed myself!!

The challenge put to us on the team this week was to CASE a card from the Hambo gallery and use the Dragonfly-digi as our image.

I chose to CASE my card from the BUG gallery, and picked a card by none other than the Hambo Design Team coordinator herself, the talented Judy Rozema herself!!! :) :) I'm not sucking up at all... hehe.

I love that the Papertrey Ink Shape Up series of dies can be used on it's own as a card, or made to fit on an A2 card base. I personally like them cut out on a card base because it gives me more patterned paper possibilities. :) And I LOVE my patterned paper!

I chose the song "Landing in London" by 3 Doors Down (featuring Bob Seger) and chose to give my card a 'missing you' theme. The song is pretty melancholy and lonesome (hopefully my card isn't as sad looking, haha), but has a gorgeous melody and I looooove Bob Seger! :) You can hear the song on You Tube here. I used the Skyline image (it's BIG!) and coloured it in with Copic markers. I decided to make the card a WHOLE lot cheerier than the song is; doom and gloom and Hambo just don't mix!! :) See that lonely one single light left on? Maybe that person is waiting up for their loved one to come home... :)

This is very much a lack-of-mojo-so-i-borrowed-someone-else's-idea kind of card. :) It's OK as long as you admit it!! Isn't that what this industry and hobby is about? Inspiring others, being inspired by others? :) The basic layout/sketch came from the Card Ideas for Paper Crafters magazine and I just love how easy it is to do so many different colour combinations with this particular stamp set! I stamped the pieces of the doilies in different colours off the side of the cardstock, added lots of glitter and matted it on a few layers of cardstock. Verrrry pretty in real life if I do say so myself!!

I made this sweet birthday card for a delightful little one year old girl that belongs to a close friend of mine. This sweetie has sparkly eyes and a personality to match- just like her wonderful mother's! Happily, this actually got through the mail in time to arrive on the actual day of her birthday so I considered that a 'win' for once on my part!! :)

I just love that the cupcake die from Papertrey Ink can either stand alone as its own card, or fit onto an A2 size cardstock base. That really opens up the possibilities for cute birthday cards, and lots of other occasions as well.

Another cheery adoption card that a friend requested. Gender neutral, fresh and fun! I used a LOT of Papertrey Ink products on this card...4 different stamp sets! I love the look of a tag on a card, so that was my focal point to hold the sentiment; the balloons are for added cheer and goodwill. :)

It's almost back to school time...shopping today for a new backpack, shoes and clothes. My son seems to have grown 3 inches over the summer and desperately needed some new shirts and pants. Luckily everything we found had a monster truck or construction theme so he was happy to try stuff on...I bet that good attitude won't last for long the older he gets.

White embossing powder pops so brilliantly against almost every other colour and I always forget how stunning it can look! The Take Three series by Papertrey Ink lends perfectly to embossing and this pretty little bird from the 'Summer' edition is wonderful for a wedding card. I used a embossing clean-up cloth to wipe my cardstock first so none of those nasty white particles would show up elsewhere on my card, stamped the image in Versamark and embossed with the powder! The gems were clear to begin with and didn't look quite right, so I used my W-5 marker to colour them the right shade of black.

I hope everyone is falling back into their back to school routines nicely. We still have a week before my little guy goes back to Kindergarten. Very exciting! This week will consist of new shoe shopping and of course, a fancy new backpack! :)

I thought and thought about an appropriate sentiment and finally settled on 'Write On' thinking I may use this card to give my son's teacher on the first day of school to celebrate the new school year. All Things Unity challenge #37 features the kissing technique! If you need a refresher on 'how to' check out the simple tutorial on Splitcoaststampers. Edited to add: This challenge has been changed to an "Anything Goes" challenge as there aren't enough Unity images to use the kissing technique to great effect. A friend needed an adoption card with a gender neutral colour scheme and I was happy to create something for her. Just a simple note card set that I created for myself after my recent 30th birthday. I needed to send out a few thank yous to those who treated me so generously on my big day! :) I was/am very blessed to have such wonderful family and friends in my life!

It's time for another Hambo Hoedown over on the challenge blog and this week we're playing Tic Tac Toe with the Little Indian digital stamp. Isnt' she cute!? I think she's in costume for her school production maybe...

So with using a Tic Tac Toe board to decide what elements will be on your card, you simply look at the board and choose 3 in a row whether it's up, down or diagonal. Maybe it sounds a bit confusing but once you head on over the Hoedown and check out the fabulous samples the design team came up with, you'll catch on!!!

I looked at the board and used buttons, flowers and punches. The buttons are pretty obvious, the flowers are the green tiny little punched ones as well as the flowers on the designer paper; and the punches are the flowers, circle and scalloped circle. This 'cutie patootie' is going to end up in the hands of a neighbour girl celebrating a birthday soon. :)

I'm currently off celebrating at a bachelorette weekend with a close family friend (her sister is my oldest and dearest friend) so this is pre-posted. I really hope that I'm still in one piece when I get home; it's been awhile since I've been away on a girls' weekend so it should be LOTS of fun!!

I coloured my guy up as an 'older' gentleman and he kind of reminds me of those people who put on the war reenactments for the public. :) I DO NOT own a sewing maching and wouldn't know how to use one if I did, so I went with faux stitching on my card. I used a paper piercer to make the holes, then a brown Zig marker to draw the lines.

I attended a lovely bridal shower Sunday afternoon for a family friend and neighbour and was asked to create a card for her by another guest. The wedding colours are navy and silver and so I tried to keep that as the focal point of the card. I used quite a few dies on this one, keeping that Grand Calibur just a spinning!! The Aqua Mist was something thrown in for an extra touch of colour and it helped to draw the colours from the flower centre all together with the rest of the card. Vellum isn't something I use very often on a card, but it gave this one a softer look that I enjoyed.

It doesn't really get any easier than slapping a piece of chipboard on patterned paper, stamping the sentiment, and calling it a card, does it? :) Okay, maybe it wasn't THAT easy, but pretty close. I just adore the sweet, sweet papers and accessories in the Emma's Shoppe collection by Crate Paper. They are feminine, vintage and flowery- all my favourites! This cute carousel horse jumped right out at me from the pile and *neighed* to be used. My grandfather built a small model of a carousel and now that he has passed away, it is in my grandma's basement and I love turning it on when I visit and watching it go around and around.:) Happy memories!

The design team all used STEAMROLLER- digi and made a gate-fold card. This was my first time making a gate-fold card and I no idea it was easy! So THAT'S what those two tiny dots are for on my Scor-Pal... I used papers from the Little Boy collection by Echo Park and printed the digi off twice, once on patterned paper, so I could paper piece the wheels.

I love the summer and those weekends where all the grandmas agree to each take a child overnight so the hubby and I can take in a fun concert and stay overnight....*sigh* bliss! Seriously, that never happens, so lucky me for tonight! We're going to Bayfest in Sarnia to see the Tragically Hip!

I haven't been crafting much lately; too busy with life (in a good way!) so I'm pulling a card out of the files that I made a few weeks ago. Yes, another 100 Days of Summer card, this time using one of the fabulous bingo cards that come as 4 on a 12x12 sheet. I just trimmed this one so it would fit on a A2 sized card and added a few other details. Easy peasy!

This was one of 3 cards I submitted for the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol competition, and as you've probably seen by now, this was not one of the winners...haha. Oh, but I think it's soooo cute, don't you?! :) I created it more for a gender neutral baby congrats theme, but it could be used for anything really. A super easy, one layer card where I paper pieced the banner with some patterned paper that had a soft design so that I could stamp the sentiment right over top. A little Copic colouring completed the card! Thanks for stopping by today!

One Crazy Stamper Guest Designer!

Here is another fun card made using supplies from One Crazy Stamper! I am one of the guest designers for July and am happy to say that their store is FULL of fun stamping/scrapping goodies!!! You can see my first post here using an image from My Favorite Things.

This time around I used a Ketto from Stamping Bella and paper pieced her clothes and a few of the hearts with the Summer Days collection by Echo Park. I kept the layout simple and decided to let the image and fun papers do all the work. :) I've really enjoyed working with all these lovely products from the One Crazy Stamper store- so headed on over and check it out yourself!

Happy Hambo Hoedown #23! Head on over to the challenge blog and see what the design team has in store for you this week... think outside the box, or, rectangle... :) That's right, create a card that is ROUND.

I created my card base using my circle and scalloped circle Nestabilities, and made the cool, er, HOT 'sun' with the Think Pink cartridge for the Slice machine. I coloured Cool Dog- digi with Copic markers (I also used a marker to add a border around the sentiment pieces, and sparkled up his nose and glass.

Enjoy summer...shouldn't we all be doing that? I am that's for sure. My family and I enjoyed a lovely holiday weekend. Being very close to the Michigan border allows us to watch the Fourth of July fireworks as well as our own Canada Day ones...lucky us!!
Here's another card done using the 100 Days of Summer collection by Simple Stories. I loooove it. (You MAY have heard me say that before...) I used a kraft cardstock base and one of the journalling cards that comes on a 12x12 paper. Lots of inking, a little tag and a sweet yellow button. :) Perfect.

July Guest Designer for One Crazy Stamper!

I'm so excited to say that I am a guest designer for the month of July at One Crazy Stamper!! I'll wait a few minutes while you pop over there and check out all the FABULOUS goodies they have to offer...even better, now with the Canadian postal strike over, we can order from them with wild abandon! :)

Okay, back now??? :) For my first challenge duty, I was to follow a RECIPE. ONE image, TWO designer papers, and THREE embellishments. This was my first time working with an à la mode image from My Favorite Things, and I found this gal SO darn cute to work with. Easy to colour AND paper piece- so that's just what I did. My papers are from the Modern Homemaker collection by October Afternoon, and the three embellishments I chose were the flower, the crystal flourish and the Glimmer Mist. All of those particular 'ingredients' can be found in the One Crazy Stamper store!!

It's time for another Hoedown! Head on over to the challenge blog and get the details for this week's fun challenge, which is to use a Hambo image with a dog tag or dog bone on your card!

The design team worked with Doghouse Blues-digi, and I tried to pair it with more masculine colours this week, since last week's card was SO bright!! After colouring my image with Copics, I cut it out and popped it up on some October Afternoon Campfire papers. The shutters I coloured from a second image, then cut them out, and popped up a little bit so it looks like they are open and kind of flapping in the breeze. My little 'dog tag' is hanging from some twine and held in place with a teeny glue dot so it doesn't twist and turn all over the place.
