The Card Concept #107- Rainbow Cupcakes

It's time for another The Card Concept challenge! I created my card based on the photo below. Rainbows are my favourite. Really though. I screeched with glee when I saw this picture. :)

Obviously the rainbow order of cupcakes inspired me, but I also liked the tin/chalkboard feel to the background and incorporated that onto my card as well. I kept the card one layer, and it's definitely a Clean & Simple creation.

The cakes from Birthday Palooza by CZ Design (isn't that a fun name for a stamp set?!) were stamped in Versafine Black Onyx Ink across the panel, with the sentiment stamped below in the same ink. I used Distress Markers to watercolour the images and a silver paint pen for the candles. The panel was trimmed and adhered to black A2 card base that was smeared with white pigment ink for a chalky look. A touch of sparkle was added to the candle tops with Stickles.

Head on over to The Card Concept blog to see how the rest of the team was inspired and what styles they used on their cards. Play along with us using any of the styles we highlight...I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Stamps: Birthday Palooza (CZ Designs for Simon Says Stamp)
Ink: Versafine Black Onyx (Tsukineko); Distress Markers (Ranger); Silver paint marker (Pilot); Unicorn White pigment ink (Hero Arts)
Paper: black cardstock (Simon Says Stamp); watercolor cardstock (Hero Arts)

Color Throwdown- Hello Friend

The children have been back to school now after winter break for a week or two, and it coincided with a HUGE Simon Says Stamp order arriving at my doorstep. Better timing couldn't have been planned! I cracked open those goodies and started creating. :)

I turned an alcohol inked background from a week ago into my card today. I am still having so much fun experimenting with them. Every time I use them I get a different look and it's fun figuring out what mediums all work best together.

I die cut the 'friend' die from vellum and cardstock and adhered it together and then to the alcohol ink background. The little 'hello' was heat embossed in white on black cardstock, and I added a little rhinestone gem for the dot on the 'i'. The panel was die cut with a rectangle die and matted on cardstock. The entire panel was adhered to a white A2 card base with foam tape.

The Color Throwdown challenge fits perfectly for this card. Such a wintery, gorgeous color combination! I am definitely going to be using it again.
I hope you all have a great day! Thanks for stopping in.

The Card Concept #106- Pink Party

It's time for another The Card Concept challenge! I created my card based on the photo below. The gorgeous pink florals caught my eye immediately, as did the pattern of the black and gold place setting so that is what I used for my inspiration.

My card is a little bit Classy & Elegant, and a little bit Clean & Layered. I am obsessed with die-cutting lately and can't stop watercolouring every floral die in sight.

I stamped the background die in black ink on a white A2 card base and adhered my die cut elements right on top. The 'hello' die was cut from gold specialty paper and white foam and glued together before adhering right to the card base. The flowers and leaves were cut from watercolour cardstock and painted with a combination of Peerless Watercolors on the flowers, and an inexpensive palette for the leaves.

Head on over to The Card Concept blog to see how the rest of the team was inspired and what styles they used on their cards. Play along with us using any of the styles we highlight...I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Thanks so much to Latisha Yoast for organizing this yearly event.

If you aren't a regular follower of my blog, here's a bit about me...

I'm a fun-loving, dance party enthusiast from Ontario that fills my time with creativity! My children keep me busy with their interests and my husband and I enjoy geocaching and watching baseball games with them as a family. I'm an avid reader and lead the book club at our local library. I enjoy creating felt flower creations and spray-painting and adding rainbow colours/glitter to anything in our house the family will allow. My cardmaking style adapts to whatever mood I'm in, but I particularly love bold designs with pops of colour and sparkle.

Under my profile picture you will find links to my Twitter (mostly non-cardmaking), Instagram (lots of family, books, baseball, and cardmaking stuff), Pinterest (direct to my cards), and my email.

Here are a few of my favourite cards that I made this year:
