Inspired by All the Little Things #57

What is more spring-like than a colourful bouquet of gorgeous tulips? The Inspired by All the Little Things challenge this week is SO lovely and made me think of watercolouring spring flowers.

I used a paintable print from Simon Says Stamp (In Full Bloom) and my Zig markers to colour it. A stitched edge, just a few sequins, and an embossed sentiment keep it simple and allow the colours to take center stage.

Where will this inspiration photo take you? I hope you will play along with us this week. Details are here on how to join us and I can't wait to see what you come up with! Happy Saturday.

Inspired by All the Little Things #56

I thought since it's the day before Mother's Day here, it was the perfect opportunity to use the Inspired by All the Little Things challenge to create a card for my mom! That lovely floral bouquet served as my inspiration.

I used the Color Pop Florals kit from Papertrey Ink for my flowers. Some are the pre-printed pieces included with the kit, and some are stenciled, stamped, and die cut myself. I arranged them all and adhered them to a Drop Cover Panel die cut background from Reverse Confetti (possibly my new favourite die!). The sentiment is from Family Ties by PTI. A few clear sequins finish it off.

Hop on over to the Inspired By blog if you haven't already been there to see what my amazing teammates came up with this week. You'll love it! Play along with us this week...I can't wait to see what you create.

Happy Saturday, and Happy Mother's Day to the mommas. Hugs.

Amazing Florals

Die-cutting is my favourite thing to do lately. My Big Shot has been getting a workout with me cutting every die in sight. I love being able to mix and match, paper piece, put together...all of the above. The beautiful Roses die from Paper Smooches let me do all that.

I cut the largest flower from the die collection several times and then used all the multi-coloured pieces to create a few really funky flowers! For the above card I stamped a sentiment from Chit Chat and added a few sequins.

There were a few extra flowers so I couldn't just stop at one card...
Patterned papers, simple sentiments and those bold flowers make for some really stunning cards! I love how they all turned out.

I'm playing along in the May Paper Smooches challenge which uses FLOWERS as the theme.

Thanks for stopping in, and have a great day!

Inspired by All the Little Things #55

Are you staying dry? We've experienced several days of heavy rain in our area and I'm starting to wonder if I need to build an ark lol! Luckily I live on a big hill and don't have much concern for flooding...but it's still pretty soggy around here.

This week's Inspired by All the Little Things challenge has a gorgeous floral inspiration that just delighted me. I love those colours! That rustic chair! Wow.
Here's how I interpreted it:
Dreamy patterned papers from the Chasing Dreams collection by Crate Paper, paired with vellum and some pretty die cuts put this card together nicely. It's hard to tell in this photo, but the die cuts and sentiment are adhered to the vellum which allowed me to put a little glue under those pieces and glue the vellum panel to the patterned paper with no adhesive peeking through anywhere. The sentiment (the die cut and the stamped part) is from two different My Favorite Things sets. They have such inspirational sayings that are perfect on cards that I can send out to any of my friends.

You can see that my colours are more pink than the inspiration photo...oh well. It's all in how you see it, right?! :)

Thanks for stopping in today. Don't forget to head on over to the Inspired By blog to see what the rest of my teammates came up with! Have a great day.

Grateful

Rainy days around here lately...might seem dreary to some, but for me it means cozying up my studio and not feeling guilty about spending so much time making stuff. :)

I have a bold and bright card today that I just love. Saturated red, pink and purple paired with aqua and white. LOVE.  I used Flashy Florals coordinating stamps and dies by My Favorite Things and paired them with a lovely sentiment from Thanks So Very Much. The font in that stamp set is ALLLLL the heart eyes.  Peek-a-Boo Polka Dots provides the fun background and of COURSE sequins and tiny spots of Stickles glitter finish it off.

My inspiration comes from the latest The Card Concept challenge. Even though the Linky Tool is currently broken, be sure to add your card to their Facebook page!

Thanks for stopping in today, and have a GREAT day!

Curtain Call- Flutter

I am so thrilled to be the guest designer for the current Curtain Call inspiration challenge! For the 'how-to' on how to participate in this fun challenge, head here for details.

Isn't that a pretty inspiration photo? I love butterflies; I even have two butterfly tattoos! The butterflies stood out to me as well as the colour palette, so I let that lead me for my creation today.

The gorgeous Chasing Dreams 6x6 collection by Crate Paper had the perfect piece of patterned paper in it that suited the challenge perfectly. I cut the paper with a stitched rectangle die and adhered it to a dark grey card base. The butterfly focal point is a die cut piece from an older Heidi Swapp collection. I just coated it with Versamark and heat embossed it with silver sparkle powder and added a few enamel dots. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Stripe Greetings set and was heat embossed on vellum using Peppermint Tea powder by WOW.

Head on over to the Curtain Call blog to see the rest of the design team's gorgeous creations. Thanks so much for stopping in today! Happy Monday!

Inspired by All the Little Things #54

Today's inspiration for the latest Inspired by All the Little Things challenge is so fresh and right up my alley.  That bookcase is just gorgeous BUT mine would have far more books on it. I'm an avid reader and worked as a librarian for a few years.

I loved the linear look of the books on the shelves, the colour scheme and the framed antlers. All that shows up in my card today. (Sorry for the lackluster photo- the lighting was really off!)

On a white card base I adhered strips of aqua and yellow cardstock. The deer head is an older die from We R Memory Keepers and was cut from a woodgrain paper.  The sentiment is from Neat & Tangled.

That's all for today! Have a great Saturday and don't forget to check out the rest of the design team's creations at the Inspired By blog.

Create Together with Bonnie Sharp

I'm back with another Create Together segment today and my crafty collaborator is Bonnie Sharp from The Lucky Clucker. I usually call her mom though. :)

We have a fun photo inspiration that we used for our creations today, with the stipulation that we use NO patterned paper. My mom loooooves patterned paper. I can't wait to see what she came up with.

First I used my Distress Inks to create the background on watercolor paper. I let it dry, then splatted a few drops here and there. After die cutting the piece using an Avery Elle die, I used a fun stamp from Two-Lips for my sentiment which I thought was fitting for the inspiration. The finished panel was adhered to a white card base using foam tape.

In retrospect, using this stamp in a challenge with my own relative is kind of funny. I hope my mom doesn't think I'm sending a message to her. :) LOL!!

Be sure to check out Bonnie's card to see how she interpreted the challenge! Thanks for stopping in today and have a great day.

Inspired by All the Little Things #53

Sweet and sparkly is how I would describe this week's inspiration for the latest Inspired by All the Little Things challenge. Soft pastel tones and a touch silver glitter for a bit of elegance paired with a classic kraft look is such a fun combination!

My card today uses Waffle Flower Crafts products. That Chunky Chevron die is so great because it leaves you with many pieces to work with. Cut it out from various colours of cardstock like I did here, and you can mix and match for several cards.  I layered them in the pattern I wanted and adhered them to a kraft card base. The focal point was made from the Lacy Flowers die, and the sentiment from the Lacy Flower stamp set stamped in Charcoal dye ink.

You will want to head right on over to the Inspired By blog so you can see all the lovely creations my fellow design team members came up with AND to see who our guest designer is this week!

Thanks for stopping in and have a happy Saturday!

Inspired by All the Little Things #52

Happy Saturday! I hope it is sunny and warm where you are. We are finally getting some spring weather and it feels so refreshing. I love the sunshine! Spring brings showers and our Inspired by All the Little Things inspiration this week is all about the April showers.

I used a verrrrrry old Unity Stamp Co. kit for my card today. I stamped the sun/cloud image and the sentiment over top in black, then cut it out using a pierced circle die cut. The card base was created using white cardstock and a diagonal stencil with black ink. Foam tape was used to adhere the circle piece and I added a few yellow sequins and a few Glossy Accent dots.

Don't forget to head on over to the Inspired By blog to see the rest of the inspiration from the design team. Enjoy your Easter weekend and thanks for stopping in!

Birthday Hydrangeas

Simon Says Stamp is celebrating their 8th birthday and their fabulous Wednesday challenge is focusing on of course, BIRTHDAY cards! I pulled out a new and old favourite of their products and got to work creating.

The In Full Bloom watercolour panels were perfect for this card. I used my Zig markers and a paintbrush to paint the florals and once dry, added some fabulous sparkle with a WOW glitter. The sentiment from Handwritten Sentiments (probably my most used sentiment set!) was heat embossed in white on black cardstock and adhered using foam tape.

Here's a close up of that sparkle!

Thanks for stopping in today! Have a great day!

Stamping for Autism Awareness Blog Hop

I am so thrilled to be participating in a blog hop today that highlight those special kids in our lives that have autism or are on the autism spectrum. Veronica Zalis and Tenia Nelson are hosting this fabulous hop and all of us joining in today hope that you will educate yourselves about autism, show compassion, and try to include those with autism into your lives through playdates, birthday parties, and more.

Here in Canada there are many sources of information but in particular two excellent resources are Autism Canada and Autism Speaks.

My card today shows off the rainbow spectrum with a variety of inks blended over top of an embossed background. The fun dots are an older red rubber cling background stamp from My Favorite Things. The sentiment from Clear & Simple Stamps was heat embossed in white and I used a white pencil crayon to lightly colour in the bold letters.  It's adhered with foam tape to the colourful panel. Clear sequins are added across the front here and there.

Isn't that a fun card? Thanks so much for hopping along with us today.

Inspired by All the Little Things #51

When I saw the inspiration picture for this week's adorable Inspired by All the Little Things challenge using a cupcake stamp is what came to mind immediately. But WAIT. I don't own a cupcake stamp! How is that even possible?! Here comes Plan B. :)

I used the pretty Banner & Wreath stamp set and coordinating dies from Avery Elle for my card today. I stamped and die cut everything, then coloured in with Copic markers. My yellow cardstock tone on tone background was created using the Peek-a-boo Polka Dots Cover-Up die from My Favorite Things. Some messy gold twine, and a few clear sequins finish it off.

Pop on over to the Inspired By blog and see what the rest of the team came up with. I hope you'll play along with us this week, because I can't wait to see what you create! Also, what cupcake stamps do you recommend? ;)

Have a great day!

Inspired by All the Little Things #50 Celebration

It's a special celebration for the 50th challenge of Inspired by All the Little Things! We have a gorgeous inspiration photo for you to play with this week AND we have each invited a special guest to play along with us! I have invited my lovley friend Veronica Zalis to join us this week; you can see her stunning creation at her blog So Many Stamps So Little Time.

Here is what I came up with:
I went with a celebratory theme and let those gorgeous florals and pops of gold in the photo inspire me. Kind Soul from the latest WPlus9 release was the perfect fit for what I was going for on this creation. I heat embossed the flowers in gold along the top and bottom of the card, and watercoloured them using Distress Markers. The sentiment (Celebrate Big now retired) from My Favorite Things was embossed in sparkly gold and stamped in Victorian Velvet ink.  A few gold sequins finish it off.

As part of our celebration, this week we will each be choosing an Inspiring Standout Runner Up, then as a team we will choose ONE MAIN WINNER and that person will join our team for May as a Guest Designer for each May challenge! How exciting is that?!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Don't forget to check out Veronica's card, and see who the rest of the design team invited as their guest this week.  I hope you'll play along with us and I can't wait to see what you come up with!

National Craft Month Celebration Blog Hop

Welcome! You should have arrived here from Tracey's blog.  A full list of the hop can be found here.

Welcome to the National Craft Month Celebration Blog Hop! Nicole from Right At Home is hosting this fun hop to celebrate our favorite hobby and bring the crafty community together for a day dedicated to our passion. Isn't she kind?

Today Nicole is releasing the lovely Make Something Beautiful stamp set, which she generously gifted me a few months ago at a retreat and now you all finally get the chance to buy it! Along the hop you will see many ways to use this fun set and even have the chance to win it...because everyone loves a prize! :)

I wanted a messy painted look for my card today, and used my Zig markers to colour a rainbow across the panel of watercolour cardstock.  After using a small paintbrush and water to blend the colours together, I also added a few light splats of blue paint. The brush was stamped and watercoloured as well. Once the entire panel was dry I stamped my sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black ink and die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die. The panel is adhered to a black card base. For once I didn't add any sequins, instead going for a crisp, colourful look!

As mentioned above, there is a giveaway of the Make Something Beautiful stamp set on the Right at Home blog for those who hop along and comment along the way.

Next stop is my talented friend Laurie Willison from Soapbox Creations. Enjoy the hop and thanks for stopping in!

Spring Coffee Lovers Bloghop

http://coffeelovingcardmakers.com/2017/03/2017-spring-coffee-lovers-blog-hop/

I'm excited to share my card for the Spring Coffee Lovers Bloghop, as I missed out on the winter one.  I had the chance this past weekend to create something using a new to me stamp from Riley & Co. They have the funniest sayings!

With help from some older patterned papers that were quite spring-like, I was able to quickly put together this funny card. One thing to note- I don't actually own the coordinating stamp set for the Caffeinated Cups die cuts so I had to draw in the cup. Why wouldn't I have bought that?! *must remedy* The sentiment was stamped in black on patterned paper.

I really do think that sentiment reflects me in the mornings. My poor family puts up with a very grumpy mom until I get my cuppa. :)

Thanks for stopping in and have a great day!

*It's a GIRL!* Blog Hop

Today is a special day as a whole lot of us are helping celebrate the upcoming arrival of baby girl Croghan! The beautiful baby momma Lesley Croghan organizes so many challenges (I'm on Inspired by All the Little Things with her) and is so full of creativity! Lesley, I wish you and your husband lots of love and baby snuggles!

Here's my card:
I used Lil' Inker Designs products for my card today. The Quilted Stitched Pattern cover-up die was used for the pink cardstock background, and the Warm Welcome stamp set and coordinating dies for the focal point. I LOVE that Welcome word die...a new favourite! A few sequins finish it off.

The Inlinkz gallery will be open until March 31 at midnight MST if you want to come celebrate with us! Link up HERE at Lori Turner's blog. A big thank you to Lori for organizing this.

Inspired by All the Little Things #49

Spring is officially here and Easter is approaching, so what is more appropriate than a sweet little bunny themed inspiration photo for this week's Inspired by All the Little Things challenge?!

I used the absolutely adorable Hippity Hoppity stamp set (and coordinating dies) from Reverse Confetti for my card today.  Cute, cuddly, and colouring with Copics is not usually in my repertoire but I'm always trying to learn and grow as a card maker and wanted to make something outside my comfort zone. Yay me!
The images were stamped and die cut, then coloured in with Copic markers. I masked the basket along the bottom of the card and stamped the carrots and eggs. The sentiment was stamped using Cornflower ink and that fun patterned paper is from the Dear Lizzy Lovely Day collection.

Ikat thanks

Creating my own backgrounds rather than reaching for designer paper is always fun for me. Don't get me wrong; I LOVE patterned paper...I hoard it. *guilty* What good are pattern-building stamp sets if you don't use them? :) Enter Irresistibly Ikat:

This stamp set from Papertrey Ink is a few years old now and still hasn't received much love from me. I'm not sure why, because it's SO fun to work with. Choosing what ink colours to use was half the fun! I used dye inks- Cornflower Blue, Apricot, Mermaid, Nautical Navy, and Daffodil.  The card is mainly one layer, stamped on a white card base with a glittery embossed die cut sentiment.

What is your favourite pattern-building stamp set?

I used the latest Curtain Call Challenge for my inspiration. The pillow with the ikat print, and the colours in general helped to guide my design.

Thanks for stopping in today, and have a great day!

Create Together with Angel Rivera

My delightful friend Angel Rivera from Angel's Creative World is getting crafty with me today for another Create Together collaboration.  It was just over a year ago that we last worked together; you can check out that collaboration here.

What is Create Together?

I wish I could sit around a table with my crafty friends, drink a big ol' glass of wine (or whatever suits your fancy!) and make cards with them and all of you!
Since that's often geographically impossible, I thought I'd try reaching out and do some fun cardmaking collaborations virtually.

For however long there is interest, I am joining up with some amazing cardmakers and we're challenging each other JUST FOR FUN to get crafty.

Angel and I challenged each other to use BUTTERFLIES and a SPRING theme in our creations today. Fun fact- I have two butterfly tattoos! Check out the first of my two creations today:

After watercolouring using Distress Inks I die cut the butterfly from Floral & Flutter by Concord & 9th several times. Before adhering them I added some grey paint splatters to the white card base. The sentiment was created from Wonderful Women (retired) and Layers of Love and embossed in white on grey cardstock. A few clear sequins finish it off.

My next creation is for Easter.
That GORGEOUS patterned paper from the Dear Lizzy Lovely Day collection caught my eye and I knew I needed to use it. I trimmed it slightly before adhering to a white card base and added a small strip of gold glitter paper to the top and bottom. The butterflies were die cut and stamped using Beautiful Butterflies Layers set from Papertrey Ink and dye inks. The sentiment from Mega Mixed Messages (still one of my absolute favourites from PTI) was heat embossed in white.

That's all I have for you today! Now it's time to flutter on over to Angel's blog if you haven't been there already, and see what amazing-ness she has for you there. Thanks so much Angel for creating with me today! :)

Inspired by All the Little Things #48

Happy Saturday! Saturday means another Inspired by All the Little Things challenge...yay!! We're seeing stars this week. :) That was my interpretation of it anyway. Isn't that what's fun about inspiration challenges?

I used my Waffle Flower Starry Night set for my sentiment and did a bunch of loose watercolouring for my background. It was so much fun just to drop splotches of paint here and there and see what happens. A few extra stamped stars finish it off. One layer, but full of impact!

Head over to the Inspired By blog and check out what the rest of my teammates came up with! We'd love it if you would play along with us this week. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
Enjoy your weekend!

Celebrating foliage

It's March Break here and the kids have been keeping me busy. I only had a short amount of time to put together a card for this week's CAS(E) this Sketch #212 challenge. This unique sketch is so fun; it will be going into my files to use again!

I used a stencil on the kraft card base first using white pigment ink, then dye ink over top. It helps to soften the bold colours a bit. After splatting on a bit of Picked Raspberry Distress ink, I adhered my foliage dies and then my sentiment. The 'celebrate' was die cut twice and offset, then Glossy Accents were added. A few sequins finish it off.

I'm also playing along with CASology this week- the theme being FOLIAGE. That fits right into my love of greenery this spring season. We were just starting to get a bunch of green foliage peeking through for spring then a huge snowstorm hit. Yikes!

Thanks so much for stopping in, and have a GREAT day!
