Handsome Husband

My husband recently celebrated his 36th birthday and I used a fun sketch and variety of product mixed together to help me with his card.

I am still in love with ombre inks from Hero Arts...super excited to see new colours coming out! I used the Pool to Navy here for the sentiment from Clearly Besotted and on the balloon. Two different dies from My Favorite Things were used to frame the sentiment panel and to cut the patterned paper. Silver stars add some bling without being TOO blingy. It IS for a dude after all.

That handsome husband of mine loved this card. He is super cute, even though he desperately needs to shave his wooly beard. Seriously though. It's scratchy.

I played along with Freshly Made Sketches 221 for my inspiration.

Happy weekend-ing everyone!

A hearty hello

I'm popping in quickly today to share a card (just in time!) for the Little Tangles challenge- Hello. I can't seem to stop being in love with shades of blue and aqua lately, so you'll see it here again today.

After blending dye inks onto watercolour cardstock, I flicked on some water and white spray mist to get the background. Falling Hearts was stamped in a lighter ink on top of the background.  The Heart of Gold die was cut from sparkly silver paper and adhered to the base with some of the pieces left intact. A bold sentiment popped up with foam tape makes it fit the theme. :)

Thanks for stopping in today! I hope your day is GREAT.

Create Together- cardmaking collaborations!

Back in the end days of 2015 I was giving myself an internal year in review of what I enjoyed most about the last year.  My crafty friendships were something that was on the top of the list.
Sharing my work with others, giving and receiving helpful advice on cardmaking, getting the chance to actually meet a few other local cardmakers and in general, developing some really great friendships.
I wish I could sit around a table, drink a big ol' glass of wine (or whatever suits your fancy!) and make cards with them and all of you!
Since that's geographically impossible in some cases, I thought I'd try reaching out and doing some fun cardmaking collaborations with them virtually.

For the next few weeks and continuing for however long there is interest, I am joining up with some amazing cardmakers and we're challenging each other JUST FOR FUN to get crafty.
Maybe it's a theme we'll both create from, a colour scheme or inspiration piece, a limited supplies challenge...you get the idea. We're just here to have fun and share our creations with you. For me, it's a chance to blog a little more regularly (which I enjoy doing), and get to know some awesome cardmakers!

My friend June Houck blogs at Simply Elegant Paper Crafts and creates the sweetest cards. Her designs are fresh and fun, and I love her use of patterned paper. From 'no-stamping' cards, to fun treat containers, she can do it all. We "met" each other while designing for the Cardabilities challenge team and have been crafty friends ever since. :)

Since Valentine's Day is approaching and we both have kiddos that have amazing teachers to show our love to, we decided to use Teacher Valentine's as our theme to create from!

I used the super cute Willy & Friends stamp set by Waffle Flower Crafts for the main panel and Bowtiful for the sentiment. Oh my goodness... I am not great at colouring but I did my best with Copic markers. :) Stickles decorate the hair bow on the first card, and Glossy Accents are on the bow tie on the second. Rectangle die cuts and patterned papers from My Favorite Things pull both cards together.

Thank you SO MUCH to June for happily cardmaking with me this week. Like I said earlier, creating is more fun when you can do it with a friend! Please go check out June's amazing designs and stop back in here next week for another crafty collaboration!

Smooches!

It's only the end of January but I have springtime and spring-like colours on the mind today.
Pretty florals and bright, bold colours play along on this creation using Paper Smooches products.

With the latest "4 Colors" challenge in mind, I die cut the Adorable Array die from multiple colours (yes, I'm using both Canadian and American spellings of colour/color today lol!) of cardstock and pieced some of it back together. I used a green Copic marker to colour the leaves in underneath, rather than use cardstock...kind of a fun look! Some yellow splatter and sequins pull in the fourth colour. A nice crisp, black stamped sentiment from Chit Chat finishes it off.

Thanks for stopping in today and have a GREAT day!

Winter bird Thank You

I'm popping in today to share a card I made for the Sparkle & Shine Challenge. A challenge where you have to add some sort of bling?! Count me in. :)

I channelled the wood grain fence using some patterned paper and used Hero Arts Color Layering Bird and Branch, as well as a lovely sentiment from the Acts of Kindness set. Silver sequins and clear loose glitter on the snowy branches add in the sparkle factor.

Thanks for stopping in today and have a great day!

Mitten Love

"Cold hands, warm heart" is something my grandma always said to me when I was little. I bet she would STILL say it except she escapes to Florida every winter and is toasty warm all wintery season. :)

I love this Mitten & Mugs set by Concord & 9th because it's not limited to only Christmas or holiday cards. The mitten love can be spread out all winter.

I stamped my images and sentiment over a bit of watercolouring, then coloured in the hearts. After trimming the panel down I adhered it a red card base.

I'm playing along with The Card Concept #46 with a clean and graphic style.  The mittens, pop of red and that big heart was where I drew my inspiration from.

Something New!

I'm using some new-to-me My Favorite Things products today to play along in the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge.

I inked up a white cardstock panel using Distress Inks, added some water droplets, and adhered the white Snow Drifts Cover-Up over top. The gold butterfly is from the Recollections collection by Michael's and that 'amazing' MFT sentiment is combined from a die cut and stamp set. A few sequins finish it off.

Thanks for stopping in today, and I hope your day is AMAZING. :)

Waffle Flower Crafts January challenge- Stenciling

Welcome back for some more inspiration for the Waffle Flower Crafts challenge! We're focusing on stenciling this month and there are so many possibilities.

I used the fabulous Doily Circle die which practically begs to be used as a stencil. :) On the main cardstock panel I used a DYE ink to completely saturate the paper. Scrap cardstock was used for the doily die cut, and sprayed with temporary adhesive. Depending on the size of your stencil and panel, washi tape would work to adhere the stencil temporarily as well.  Once my homemade stencil was in place, I used a Versamark watermark pen to colour through it.  Remove the doily, set the panel aside to dry and watch magic happen. :) The watermark ink soaks into the inked panel and gives it almost a bleached look.
Final touches were heat embossing a sentiment from In Every Way, and adding some sequins.

If you haven't already, pop on over to the Waffle Flower blog and check out what the other talented design team members have come up with. You will be amazed. :) We'd love to have you play along with us in the challenge. You don't need to use Waffle Flower Crafts products to join in the fun, but if you do you'll be eligible to win a prize. Lucky you!

Thanks for stopping in today and have a great day.
