Happy Friday and Happy Everything!

Happy Friday everyone!  It's the weekend!

The snow is back for a quick visit here in Ontario but I think we can all handle one last winter blast because spring is *almost* here!! Spring means gardening, and I've been thinking about my gardens and the pink painted bike I have as a centre piece in my main flower bed, with flowers growing out of the basket.  It's so cute. The gold bike in my card reminds of it. :)

I used the Paper Smooches Designer Drafts sketch challenge as the inspiration for this card. I love a good sketch to follow. I stayed pretty true to the outline and instead of stamping a focal point I used a lovely journaling card from the I Am collection by Simple Stories. Sentiment is from Simply Said

Thanks for stopping in today and have an amazing weekend everyone.

Butterfly Reflections, Ink is Runway Inspired!

I'm up today on the Butterfly Reflections, Ink blog today sharing a card that had me getting messier than usual in my studio. The final product included sponging, smearing and flicking! I'd love it if you popped on over there to get the details.

I'm linking up to Runway Inspired Challenge#80- Nonoo. I looooved the mint and black splattered look on the dress. Instead of a pop of orange for colour, I used gold.

Thanks for stopping in and have a great day!

CAS-ual Fridays Feature

It's finally spring! Yeah! To celebrate all things fresh, blooming and pretty I have a colourful card that gives a bright and cheerful springtime vibe.

I'm up on the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps blog today, and wanted to show a continuation of a card I made last month. For my February post for CAS-ual Fridays I posted a card where I cut a bunch of the Casual Trees Fri-Dies from watercolor paper. I used the leftover negative piece for my card today. Don't throw all those bits and pieces away...you never know when they'll come in handy! (Unless of course you have a drawer FULL of bits and pieces...like I do...so maybe throw *some* of it away once in awhile, haha.)

For the other card, I watercolored a fun, bright panel using watercolor paper, then die cut the Casual Trees Fri-Dies from it several times. I used it here as my background, matted on a white card base. I die cut the Bubble Label from white and stamped my sentiment from Bold Wishes

I'm playing along with the Simon Says Stamp Spring Pinterest challenge. I loved the rainbow graphic in the middle of the board and thought my watercolours could recreate something equally colourful!

Thanks for stopping in today and have an amazing day!

Easter Inspiration

Happy Saturday everyone! We've had a fun March Break and activities are winding down. It's nice to keep the kids busy so they have a fun and active week off school, but I can't wait until Monday when they go back to school and I get my alone time again! :)

I'm playing along with the Curtain Call challenge this week which has the sweetest (and yummiest) inspiration picture. I used the spring colours, the speckled eggs, and the general Easter theme as my starting point.
The butterflies, spotted layers, and sentiments were stamped right on the white cardstock for a clean, one layer look. Some clear sequins and little dabs of Diamond Stickles (hard to see in the picture) were added for extra sparkle.

I'm also playing along with the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge- which uses a lovely spring Pinterest inspiration board. I used the small top right picture of the cross for my inspiration.

Thanks for stopping in today and I hope your weekend is fabulous!

CAS(E) this Sketch 114

Playing around with Copic markers has been really relaxing for me lately so colouring these gorgeous bouquets was right up my alley. I've been trying to participate in Kathy Racoosin's 30-day Coloring Challenge (#thedailymarker30day) so I figured this card would fit right into that!

I followed CAS(E) this Sketch 114 for my inspiration and stayed very true to the original sketch.  Botanical Bunch from WPlus9 was a recent purchase and I wanted to use a spring palette for it on this card. Soft yellow, mint, lavender and pale pink Copics, plus a few black ink splatters make up the main panel. The black Die-namics Stitched Rectangle is popped up with foam, as is the 'thank you' die cut. The final touch was a good coating of Stickles on the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping in! Happy cardmaking. :)

Glittered Glass

I'm up on the Butterfly Reflections, Ink blog today with a glittery card! Go on over and check it out. :)

Side note- when I made this card all I could think of was the Will & Grace episode where Jack claims his eye patch is from a glitter-related injury. Seriously. I feel like I almost experienced one making this card. Hahaha.

Thanks for stopping in crafty friends! Have a great day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I have a fun shaker card to share today that was inspired by St. Patrick's Day. Impression Obsession has these really handy shaker card pouches that make it really quick and easy to create a shaker card! I need them in ALL the sizes.

Random green papers from my stash and a Spellbinders scalloped circle die cut frame the shaker pouch and I filled it with sequins from Pretty Pink Posh and teeny stars from Butterfly Reflections, Ink.  I used a sparkly gold embossing powder to cover the 'hello' greeting. So sparkly and pretty!

Thanks for stopping in today, and if you're of the mindset to have a green beer today, well then, CHEERS to you! :) Enjoy your day crafty friends.

Things that fly

I'm popping in quick today to share a card I made awhile ago and haven't posted yet! That happens right? :) It's March Break here so I'm lucky to get a minute to sit at the computer. My kiddos are right full of energy and ready to play all week long...I'm hoping to survive the week!

I used WPlus9's Flora & Fauna 2 for the butterfly, and Sparkle and Shine for the sentiment.  The pretty butterfly was coloured with Copic markers and covered with Spica glitter, and a few sequins finish it off.
I'm linking up to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge- Things That Fly

Happy Monday everyone! March Break fun fact- I get a cardmaking play date with grown-up friends tonight!!! Woooohooo!

CAS-ual Fridays release Day 2!

Welcome back for day 2 of the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps March release. Today we're showing off the new Twinkle stamp set and Star Fri-Dies. First of all- stars. Love them. Great for any occasion and fun, fun, fun! Secondly- I did not have single large star die in my stash and really wanted one so this is perfect!

For my first card, I heat embossed the sentiment and the row of stars repeatedly in gold sparkle embossing powder right on the card base. Then I die cut the Stars Fri-Dies from black cardstock and inlaid them. The middle star was heat embossed with the same gold sparkle powder and all of them were popped up using foam tape.

This next card uses the same row of stars embossed in a matte gold, as well as the smallest of the three stitched stars included in the Twinkle set. I drew lines with a ruler and Versamark pen from the top of the panel to some of the stars and heat embossed them. The inside of the stars are watercolored. A fun sentiment and embossed edges finishes off this 4.24" square card.

So pop on over to the store blog and check out what the other design team members have come up with using Twinkle and Stars Fri-Dies. Thanks for stopping in!

Succulent Success

I'm up today on the Butterfly Reflections, Ink blog with this cute card using Lawn Fawn products. Pop on over there for the details!

I followed the sketch for CAS(E) this Sketch #113 and am entering it just shy of the deadline. Nothing like leaving it to the last minutes! Phewf. :)

Have a great day!

CAS-ual Fridays Stamps release Day 1!

I am so excited about the latest release for CAS-ual Fridays Stamps! If you started out here then I recommend heading over to the store blog where your mind will be blown away by the designs the team has come up with. Swoon.

Today's release is the ultra cute Happy Mail stamp set and matching Mail Box Fri-Die. It couldn't have come at a better time since my brother and his family have bought a house right around the corner from us and I needed a card for them!

For this first card I stamped the mail box on the white panel, along with the sentiment and hearts. The letter was fussy cut and I used the Mail Box Fri-Die for the flag.  The hearts have a touch of Stickles glitter on each one and look like they are cheerfully spilling out of the mail box.

The second card shows a more traditional mail box (I'd love a cute chevron mail box!) cut with the Mail Box Fri-Dies from wood veneer paper and patterned paper. The mail box image was then stamped over top and trimmed to fit . As usual, Michele has several font and sentiment choices to make it easy to mix and match whatever you need to say. She's so awesome at that!

Thanks for stopping in and don't forget to come back again tomorrow for another release day with CAS-ual Fridays Stamps!

You inspire me

The lovely colours in MFT Color Challenge #16 inspired me to get creative this past weekend.  With springtime on my mind (it's starting to warm up here- it's going to be 4°C today. HEAT WAVE!) I knew I wanted to use florals for my card.

The Rose Builder stencil worked perfectly for my flowers. After sponging my inks through where I wanted the flowers to be, I gave it a quick heat set so that when I embossed the sentiment it wouldn't get gold powder in places where I didn't want it. Trust me, I've HAD embossing powder in places where I didn't want it be...not fun...ACHOO!!!  The stamped panel was matted on kraft cardstock and then popped up with foam tape on a Lemon Chiffon card base.

Thanks for stopping in everyone, and have a GREAT Monday!

All Things Embossed

I can't stop embossing my latest favourite background stamp- the Sketched Roses stamp from Impression Obsession. SO pretty! I knew this would fit with Virginia's View Challenge #13- All Things Embossed

Embossing was one of the first things I fell in love with about cardmaking. Oh the magic of that powder puffing up and becoming bold and shiny. Ooooooo.

For this card, I heat embossed the Sketched Roses background in white on vellum, and coloured the backside of the vellum with bright Copic markers. Why couldn't I have just embossed on white cardstock and coloured them in regularly? That would have worked just fine but as usual the card went a different direction than what I had envisioned. Also, it gives a nice soft look that the Copics wouldn't have given straight on regular cardstock. AND I didn't have to be fussy and careful about not colouring over top the white embossed areas. :) A bold sentiment stamped in black finished it off.

Thanks for stopping in today and have fun embossing! Don't forget to play along with Virginia's View
