CAS-ual Fridays Stamps NEW Release!

Welcome back for another fun day of CAS-ual Fridays Stamps newest release. I hope you have enjoyed the sneak peeks so far!! Mon Ami and its coordinating die, Mon Ami Fleur, take centre stage today.

I stamped the smaller flower repeatedly and then pulled out my Copics to colour them in. I embossed the sentiment in white and added Stickles glitter to the tops of the flowers.  Here it comes...wait for it...I love the font in this set. I realize I've said that 20947 days in row. :) It's true though!

Messy embossing came into play for this second card. I die cut the flowers, then stamped them in Versamark, smearing it a bit here and there. That grainy look worked so well when paired with the watercolouring on the actual flowers. So pretty! More gold embossing on the edge of the card, and I stamped and embossed the sentiment right on the patterned paper.  Finally, the flower stem was stamped in a mint ink. Such a fresh, elegant colour combo!

That's it for today! Don't forget to head on over to the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps blog to see what the other talented designers have come up with. Comment over there today and everyday this release for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the store. :) See you tomorrow!

CAS-ual Fridays Stamps NEW release!

Welcome back for day 2 of the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps new release!
Today the team is showing off two new stamp sets and a fun die that coordinates with either, OR works fabulously on its own.

First up is Whole Shebang which I just LOVE. The BIG HB2U is so fun and modern all the matching sentiments suit perfectly. It's a great birthday set for any/all ages.

I watercoloured a background and once dry,  heat embossed the HB2U and stamped the sentiment underneath in grey. I added a few splatters of the same grey ink on the corners and a few sparkly stars that were die cut from the Fun-Fetti Fri-Dies set. The Fun-Fetti set initially screamed SHAKER card to me, and I'm sure I'll be using them for that in the near future, but I also love that they can be used almost like a sequin but without the bulk.

For my next card, I used Sassy Smiles for a cheerful, hang in there, keep smiling, kind of creation. I wanted to keep it bright, bold and FUN.

The patterned paper was the start of my inspiration and I took my colour scheme from it. The card base has a few lime green splatters here and there (I'm all about the splatters today!).  I heat embossed the big SMILE sentiment in lime green, and the rest in white on dark grey cardstock.  I used a few of the flowers from the Fun-Fetti Fri-Dies to finish it off. I cut them from pink cardstock, then heat embossed with a clear sparkly powder. That sparkle embossing powder is really getting a workout today. :)

That's it for today! Don't forget to head on over to the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps blog to see what the other talented designers have come up with. Comment over there today and everyday this release for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the store. :) See you tomorrow!

Clean and Simple!

I have a quick post tonight with a clean and simple card for the latest Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge. Clean and simple is where it's at! Seriously though...I am so drawn to clean and simple cards, particularly when they are bright and bold so I tried to incorporate all that into my creation today!

I tend to stick to a lot of white space when I'm going for a clean and simple design. Although white space doesn't necessarily need to BE white, that's what I did here. :)

I started with a piece of Papertrey Ink's Silver Luxe Foil patterned paper and watercoloured in some of the spirals. If you're careful not to use too much water the paper will not warp. I stamped my sentiment from Hero Arts Congrats Stamp & Cut set in black and Ocean Drive (possibly one of my favourite ink colours!). A few teeny tiny, fun star sequins finish it off.

Thanks for popping in tonight! Have fun creating.

CAS-ual Fridays Stamps NEW release!

Helllloooo and welcome to Day 1 of the latest CAS-ual Fridays Stamps release.  We have four days of fun product to show you this time around so stick with us each day to see what awesomeness is being released. All stamps and dies are available for purchase May 1.

Today the team is showcasing two stamp sets that work well together and a trio of border dies that can be used on its own, or as a companion to the sets.

First up is Lovely Greetings paired with one of the dies from the Lovely Links set.

I love the colour combo of mint, coral and gold paired with all that white. So fresh and modern. I always say this but ohhhh the font. I just LOVE the font choices for this set. :)

Next up is Lovely. I stamped one of the large borders and a smaller element to create a my own background. Building these pieces together allow you to create sooooo many patterns. It's fabulous!

That's it for today! Don't forget to head on over to the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps blog to see what the other talented designers have come up with. Comment over there today and everyday this release for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the store. :)  See you tomorrow!

Waffle Flower photo inspiration

I played around this afternoon; making cards for a few challenges. It was so nice just to sit and stamp happily. :) Today's card is for the recent Waffle Flower Challenge. I loved the colours in the inspiration picture and used those for my starting point.

I stamped the bubbles from Shower, stamping some of them off once to get a softer look. The sentiment (from In Every Way) was stamped in a darker green over top and has a touch of sparkly embossing powder over top. After flicking some watered down ink in the top right and bottom left corner, I added teeny dots of Stickles here and there. They don't appear to show up in the picture at all.

As a side note- this card looks nothing like the picture at all...not sure if lighting was off or not in my studio, but it's much softer and sparkly in real life. :)

Thanks for stopping in! I hope your Monday was fabulous.

I don't think my watercolours have left my table in a few weeks now. I just can't seem to put them away; whether it's for colouring images in, creating backgrounds, or just adding a splash here and there. I'm loving them! You won't see expert application here though lol...I just like playing around. :)

I followed CAS(E) this Sketch #120 for my outline, keeping my focal point more to the centre of the card rather than the lower half.

I'm keeping it short and sweet today. After all, it's Friday and I have fun stuff to do.  No...I don't. First, I'm in recovery after watching last night's Grey's Anatomy on TV. I am just NOT. OK. after that ending.  Second, I have income taxes to finally get handed in (Canada's deadline is April 30).  I'm just I can find some excitement at the grocery store right?! :) Have a great day!

CAS-ual Fridays Feature- Notecard set

Happy Tuesday! I have a CAS-ual Fridays Stamps project to share with you today that you could easily make on your own at home with few supplies and only a short amount of time.

Check out this sweet note card set! Springtime is still a big influence on my creations these days as I can't seem to put down the bright, fun colours and florals! These 4 small cards were easy to put together using one of my favourite CFS sets- Casual Elegance. I just loooove the pretty font in this stamp set so I used each sentiment from the set on a card. :)

Hey?! How did that purple card escape photographing? Oops. :) Assembly-line type cardmaking helped with all the steps. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment in silver on each card. Then I stamped the flowers in a black hybrid ink, coloured them with Copic markers and adhered some sequins. Each panel was then glued to a card base in a coordinating colour.

I think this would be a great set to give as a gift, all wrapped up a pretty bow. OR these little card are perfect to have on hand to give out a quick card in a pinch. Either way, they were fun to make. :)

Unforgettable Due Date

Ever had a birthday slip right past you and now you're kicking yourself because you totally forgot to send a card? Happens to me all the time. Which is SO weird because aren't us cardmakers supposed to be GREAT at sending cards? Hm...not so much.

I adore this Unforgettable set by WPlus9 because it has the perfect sentiment for those birthdays you might have missed. I kept my card fairly clean and simple so it would be easy to send through the mail. The balloon is paper pieced and the sweet little elephant was coloured with my dusty Copic markers. :)

This week's Monday challenge over at Simon Says Stamp is DUE DATE. I think this card fits perfectly because I MISSED the due date. :)

Happy Monday- enjoy it!

Watercolour Cityscape

Happy weekend to you all! It really is spring now here in southwestern Ontario so we are all soaking up the sunshine (and occasional rainy day) and getting the yard cleaned up after all that winter mess.  I had a few minutes yesterday to get creative in my corner and decided to pull out my watercolours.

I played along in Avery Elle's current challenge, featuring watercolouring.  After stamping the cityscape, clouds and sentiment (all from Super, bought from Butterfly Reflections, Ink) in a black hybrid ink I went back in with my watercolours and painted away. Rainbow buildings, a soft blue for the clouds and yellow for the beacon. None of it looks neat and tidy at all; it's a very loose, messy effect which I love. I popped it all up with foam tape on a black cardstock base that had been flicked with watered down white pigment ink.

Thanks for stopping in today and I hope your weekend brings you sunshine and cardmaking time!

Curtain Call Guest Designer- Bouquet

It's time for a new Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge

We have a new sponsor, Penny Black, for the Curtain Call Inspiration: Bouquet! A randomly selected participant in the Bouquet challenge will have their choice of a Penny Black gift certificate, while the LEAD will be invited as a Guest Designer in a future challenge!

I loved the pretty colours of the blooms and the light, airy feel to the picture so that's where I drew my inspiration from. I used Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to watercolor a background then layered striped vellum over top. I die cut, stamped and heat embossed the flowers from Summer Garden by Simon Says Stamp and watercolored them in using Peerless Watercolors. After layering them the way I wanted I stamped my sentiment in black underneath.

Thanks for stopping in today. I had fun playing along with the rest of the team for the Bouquet challenge. Make sure you visit each of the designers' blogs for more inspiration!

Lovely Layers

What's going on here? No stamping and lots of layers?! I'm straying from my usual style and having lots of fun doing it.  When I put this card together I knew it would work well to link up to one of my favourite challenges, hosted by one of the nicest cardmakers out there- Virginia's View

I used the Crate Paper Confetti 6x6 paper collection and Glitter Ephemera for most of the card. That bird! Those gold leaves! My heart be still... A few sequins and some gold floral washi tape by Little B finished off the card. I gave this card to my mother-in-law for Easter. :)

Thanks for stopping in today and have a very Happy Friday!

Come on get Happy!

Happy mail recently made its way to me and I can't seem to put away the Jumbo Dot Cover-Up die from My Favorite Things. It's going to be on my desk for awhile. Love it. I think Teri Anderson might be the Cover-Up Queen...she uses them so wonderfully. Check her out for inspiration

I didn't get as fancy as Teri does for my card today but I still like it. :) I layered the die cut piece over the card base and added everything else on top. Pretty self-explanatory. Color Challenge #18 over on the MFT challenge blog was the starting point for my card today. I substituted Persimmon for the Tangy Orange.

Thanks for stopping in today and have a GREAT day!

The Easter bunny has been and gone already and now I have some time to sit and share a card with you! I pulled out some of my pretty Neat & Tangled sequins so I could play along with their current challenge

I die cut the Tiny Triangles die from white cardstock and left some of the pieces intact. After adhering it to a patterned paper card base, I then stamped my sentiment on a banner and popped it up using foam tape. A few Pumpkin satin sequins are glued here and there, and a spritz of shimmer spray finished it off.

Thanks for popping in today and enjoy your Easter holiday weekend.

Anything Goes with gold

I thought a floral, spring-ish card with hints of gold would be perfect today to share for Easter weekend. Whether you're of the Easter bunny variety, the going to church crowd, or a happy combination of both- I hope you enjoy this special weekend!

Happy mail arrived yesterday and I couldn't wait to use the new goodies from Butterfly Reflections, Ink.  The Roses die from Paper Smooches paired with metallic gold paper is soooo pretty. I layered some solid cardstock in mint and melon colours behind the die. The On Trend 6x6 collection had just the right amount of gold and prettiness to satisfy me. :) I don't have an Easter sentiment in my stash but I think "have a lovely day" suits perfectly!

I'm playing along with Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge which is anything goes this week. I'm also going to link it up for the May guest designer search. :)

Thanks for stopping in and have a great day. Don't forget to pop over to this blog post where I'm giving away blog candy. A winner will be drawn Monday, April 6,

Light It Up Blue and giveaway

Hello and welcome to the Light It Up Blue For Autism Awareness Blog Hop!

We have so many fantastic sponsors that have shown their support for Autism Awareness and you can see the complete list here at Veronica's blog.  If you would like a chance to win a prize from one of these fabulous companies leave a comment on my blog and any of the other blogs participating in today's hop! Winners will be chosen at random and will be announced on Monday April 6.

I'm participating because several of my cardmaking friends have children with autism, as well as children within our local school. For more information on Autism, I'd recommend checking out the Autism Speaks or Autism Canada websites. Educate yourself about it. :)

Now here is the shaker card I created for today's hop!

I watercolored a blue background using Distress Inks and the 'smooshing' technique and once dry, die cut my frame from it. The shaker is full of fun sequins and stars and using a double layer of foam tape lets you shake away to your hearts desire. :)

I'm also giving away a blog candy prize on this blog hop! Leave a comment and I'll randomly draw the winner on Monday, April 6th.

Thanks for hopping along today in support of Autism Awareness.
Have a great day!
