2013, glitter and Mama Elephant!

Here I am, surprisingly sneaking another quick blog post in before the new year begins! Since it's a quiet Sunday morning here I thought I'd take some time for myself to create a last minute card for the Mama Elephant colour challenge. I just adore the fun and trendy stamps from this relatively new stamp company.

The challenge was to create a card using Mama Elephant stamps and the colours red, aqua, white and glitter.  Welllll, never let it be said that I don't LOVE glitter! :) I used the Good Times stamp set, stamping the sentiment staggered 3 times, and the cute little dancing people beside.  I spritzed some Studio Calico Water Cooler mist, and die cut glittery numbers for the 2013.  I hope everyone has a fun, safe and Happy New Year!

Ink: (Aqua Mist, Pure Poppy) Papertrey Ink; (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko

Happy New Year!

The New Year is rapidly approaching and I can't help but be excited.

2012 brought many blessings to our family, but 2013 can expect plenty more! Highlights of my fabulous year included watching my brother get married to the most wonderful woman ever, learning they were pregnant and that I would be an aunt, taking our family on a super fun summer vacation, and getting published a few times in Paper Crafts magazine! :)

Here's a Happy New Year card from me to you, and my wishes that your 2013 begins with happiness and love! I used bright and bold colours on my card with a bit of bling (can't have New Years Eve without bling!), and lots of spray mist. Enjoy!

Year End Wrap Up!

It's not quite the end of the year yet, but I thought I'd do my 'wrap-up' post now before the next few days get too busy with happy Christmas festivities.

I'm sharing with you my 12 favourite cards from all year; one from each month that I posted on my blog throughout the year. I hope you enjoyed them as much as I did!!

Joyful Greetings!

I struggle with photographing cards that are all or mostly white.  They always end up too bright, like in this picture, no matter what editing I try to do!  Despite that, hopefully the 'prettiness' of this card will come across on screen.  Silver paired with pink, white and lots of sparkle.  My kind of card! I love a good stamp that can take up most of an A2 sized card and create a wonderful focal point.

Supplies:
Stamps: (Winter Trees) Hero Arts; (Joyful Greetings) Paper Smooches
Ink: (Hibiscus Burst) Papertrey Ink; (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko

FWF- Sweet Baby

Happy Friday to all of you in blog land! This is our first upcoming weekend of Christmas festivities with both sides of our family and we are all very much looking forward to it! I love the hustle and bustle of visiting family, eating good food and watching the little ones bounce around in excitement.  It's called the most wonderful time of the year for a reason you know!

Moving away from Christmas for the day, I'm showing an older baby card that I had forgotten to post, but it worked out well since now I can show it on FWF for Unity. I know the sentiment is from another company- but the main image is a gorgeous stamp from the Webster's Itty Bitty line at Unity.  It's soooo pretty, and although it included a LOVE sentiment, I thought it was appropriate for a baby card as well.
I hope everyone enjoys skipping around the FWF links, and have a great weekend!

Look who arrived!

Never hurts to have a few baby cards on hand for those wee ones that are keeping their gender a secret until the big day!  I would very much like to know whether or not I'm expecting a niece or nephew in the next few weeks, but alas, baby's parents are not finding out...darn them! :)

Paint Chips put to use!

What should you do with all those random paint chips that you no longer need or changed your mind about the colour? Why use them on a card of course! I trimmed my paint chip to fit the card and punched a snowflake on each one, and then tied on the twine and button before adhering it with foam dimensionals.  I stamped my sentiment in a matching purple and that was that!

By the way, the bottom purple colour was a contender for our bathroom, but I just couldn't convince my husband that purple was the way to go... :)

This long sentiment stamp from Penny Black is a rubber stamp that I bought the first Christmas that I had started cardmaking.  I loved it then and still love it now even though it barely fits onto an A2 sized card. It's a long time favourite for sure! I'm entering this card in to the Crazy 4 Challenges C4C166 challenge, which is to use your favourite Holiday stamp.

Supplies:
Stamps: (sentiment) Penny Black
Ink: (Royal Velvet) Papertrey Ink
Cardstock: (Soft Stone) Papertrey Ink
Other: (twine) The Twinery; (button) Papertrey Ink; (paint chip) misc.

Christmas wedding

Can you even imagine a Christmas wedding?? I'm picturing silver, gold, velvety purples, deep navy, rich reds and dark greens or any combination of those...sooooo pretty.  A delightful local couple is getting married close to Christmas and so I made up a few wintery wedding cards for people in the area to give them. The patterned paper on this card has a nice velvety texture to it, not to mention a felt snowflake under the beaded trinket (don't ask me the manufacturer on that beaded piece...I just don't know!!).  I haven't used my Copics much lately, except to change the colour of embellishments, which is exactly what I did this time to the stick pin that was originally cream coloured.

Supplies:
Stamps: (Calendar Basics) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Tuxedo Black ink, Versamark) Tsukineko; (Pure Poppy) Papertrey Ink; (R29 marker) Copic
Paper: (blue snowflake) misc.; (silver cardstock) Papertrey Ink
Other: (stick pin) Maya Road; (beaded element) misc.

Everyday I'm Shufflin'!!

I'm not sure if there is a stamp set out there that could be more fun and cute than the Good Times set by Mama Elephant. Not to mention every time I LOOK at the sentiment "Everyday I'm Shufflin'" the Party Rock Anthem starts playing on repeat in my head! I kept my card fairly simple by repeating the little 2 person image over and over, using a bright aqua for the pair over the sentiment.  A spritz of spray mist and some black gems keep this card fun and funky!

Supplies:
Stamps: (Good Times) Mama Elephant
Ink: (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko; (Hawaiian Shores) Papertrey Ink
Cardstock: (True Black, white) Papertrey Ink
Other: (gems) Kaisercraft; (A2 card) DCWV; (spray mist) Tattered Angels
