More Wild Wishes

This is the second of two funky, wild retirement cards that my mother-in-law requested.  She needed one, but I love giving choices so I made two for her to choose from.  She chose both. :)  I used papers and glitter borders from the Sugar Chic collection by Heidi Swapp.

Wild retirement wishes

My mother-in-law needed a retirement card for a friend recently and asked me to make one similar to her own personality...so this is what I came up with. :) So, what does it say about my mother-in-law? I'm thinking that she's wild, fun, feminine, bright and bold, and classy! I made two for her to choose from, the other being a little crazy as well, but I'll show that one another day.  To say the least, she couldn't decide and ended up taking both cards. :)

Stamps: (Celebrations) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Hawaiian Shores, Raspberry Fizz, True Black) Papertrey Ink
Paper: (white, Hawaiian Shores) Papertrey Ink; (Recollections glittered patterned paper) Michael's

Birthday Bird

Here's something a little brighter and cheerier than some cards I've posted lately.  Hot pinks paired with turquoise can nearly blind you when put together! :) It's my goal to use every single sticker on the recent sheet I bought from Echo Park...so you see I used a teeny tiny row of black birds on this card.  I'm sure I will come up for a use for the rest of them.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! I'm taking my kids to a local rodeo where I'm sure we will all enjoy ourselves!!

Supplies:
Stamps: (A Little Bird) Inkadinkado
Ink: (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko
Paper: (white, Raspberry Fizz) Papertrey Ink; (Everyday Eclectic collection) Echo Park
Other: (blue bird sticker) Doodlebug Designs; (black birds sticker) Echo Park; (twine) The Twinery; (button) Papertrey Ink

Thanks up high!

Stocking up on Thank You cards in my stash. You never know when you will need one or two!! Stickers make it easy to create a focal point- pair them with some die cuts and a stamped sentiment and you're ready to go! I used a sketch found on the Cardabilities blog.

Ink: (Hibiscus Burst, Aqua Mist, True Black) Papertrey Ink

There were 6 in the package so get used to seeing them. :) Check out the previous post to see another boy birthday card I made with another fabulous sticker. This card follows a sketch from the Card Ideas for Paper Crafters magazine, one of the best special issues by Paper Crafts out there!

Dude, you rock!

At the end of our recent family vacation I had the chance to pop into an Archiver's store.  This was my first time in one, seeing as it's not a company that operates within Canada. I usually avoid Michael's or Hobby Lobby when I'm cross border shopping because the products (and prices too, for the most part) are mostly the same as what we have here in the Canadian versions.  When I walked into Archiver's my jaw dropped. Hugest cardmaking store ever....!!!! It was my dream come true lol. Hubby and the kids were in the car so I hurried around filling my basket.  I walked out of there in 15 minutes $150 poorer. :) Not hard to do!  I picked up a few things that weren't quite available here in Ontario yet (as of a few weeks ago anyway), such as some new Mr. Huey's spray mists and masks, and those cute, colourful guitar stickers.  Needless to say, I'll be making sure I pop into Archiver's anytime I'm near one!!

Supplies:
Stamps: (Signature Greetings) Papertrey Ink
Ink: (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko
Paper: (Soft Stone) Papertrey Ink
Other: (guitar) Jolees Boutique; (Chevron mask, Water Cool spray mist, Sherbet spray mist) Studio Calico; (Ice Rink spray) Clearsnap

Minty Fresh

It's a Moxie Fab kind of day! I created this card for the Minty Fresh Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. What a refreshing colour mint is and it can be paired so delighfully with lots of other colours.  I used a bright pink for my pop of colour against the mint in this card. There are a lot of elements in this card- doily, sticker, fabric tape, spray mist, distressed edges...hopefully it all works together! :)

Supplies:
Paper: (kraft) Papertrey Ink; (herringbone from Everyday Eclectic) Echo Park
Other: (doily) Martha Stewart; (stickers from Everyday Eclectic) Echo Park; (fabric tape) Freckled Fawn; (circle punch) EK Success; (Mr. Huey's white Spray Mist) Studio Calico

50 Shades

Here's a quirky Valentine's Day card I created for a recent publication call for Paper Crafts magazine. It didn't get picked so that means I can show it here! :) It might not make sense to anyone unless you have read the 50 Shades of Grey book trilogy...but I still had fun creating it.

Don't ask me for my review of the actual book though (Ok, ask me! It was TERRIBLE!).  Seriously, read it for sheer entertainment if you want, but if a good piece of fiction is what you are looking for I'd avoid it.  Yes, it's juicy and spicy, but as a raging feminist I'm not exactly looking for a read that centres on a wimpy, wishy washy, simpering female who allows her partner to hurt her simply for his enjoyment...yeah, not so much. :)

If DO you want a good book suggestion though (I used to be a librarian and am now just a faithful book lover), I'd recommend the following:

Supplies:
Stamps: (Family Ties) Whimsy Stamps
Ink: (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko
Paper: (Soft Stone, Smokey Shadow) Papertrey Ink; ('Direction' from Indie Chic Ginger collection ) My Mind's Eye
Other: Microsoft Word

Now and Forever

Sometimes all you need is one big embellishment that takes center stage!! This flower has been hanging around in my stash for awhile now so it was time to use it up on a wedding card.  I just love the swirly, fun, and yet romantic look to the sentiment from Paper Smooches. I have a few sentiment sets from this company and really need to use them more. They add such a quirky, unique look to a project!

Supplies:
Stamps: (Simply Said) Paper Smooches
Ink: (Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko
Paper: (Soft Stone) Papertrey Ink; (Circa 1934 collection) Cosmo Cricket
Other: (gems and flourish) Zva; (flower) Prima

FWF is Wonderful

It's been a few weeks since I've participated in FWF with Unity, and I'm so happy to get the chance to do it again this week.  I feel like I'm really missing out when I don't get the time to stamp and link up a creation!!
For my card, I used the Wonderful set and stamped the sentiment in Ocean Tides ink.  The bird in the circle was stamped off once using Antique Linen ink and then stamped on the patterned paper.  It is veeerrrrry faint, but I can see it IRL.  Thanks for looking today, and I look forward to checking out all your creations too!

Supplies:
Stamps: (Wonderful) Unity Stamp Co.
Ink: (Ocean Tides) Papertrey Ink; (Antique Linen) Ranger
Paper: (Follow Your Heart 'Be Happy' collection) My Mind's Eye
Other: (doily) Freckled Fawn); (bird) Prima; (Mr. Huey's Boss Lady spray mist) Studio Calico; (frame die) Papertrey Ink

Envelopments Developments

A few wedding cards have been needed this summer, and with all my gorgeous patterned paper from Envelopments just collecting dust, I decided to pull all of them out and use them in the fashion they deserve! These thick, shimmery, gorgeous papers can be found at the Paper Pickle in Chatham, ON and I collect a few each time I go in. :) Their blog post (linked above) shows some of their display and a link to the company.

How is everyone's summer going? I have to say, I haven't been that busy crafting lately as we've been having too much fun running around and going places. We still have almost 4 weeks off before my son goes back to school, and not much planned for August so maybe I'll get some creative time in finally... :)

Supplies:
Stamps: (Wedded Bliss) Flourishes
Ink: (Rich Cocoa) Tsukineko
Paper: (Vintage Cream) Papertrey Ink; (Regalia in Creme Brulee) Envelopments
Other: (chipboard frame) Crafty Secrets; (butterfly) Prima; (gold paint) Ranger
