Stamp free!

I've been lacking in posts the past few days and trust me you don't want to know why!! It involved a BAD case of the flu that has run through the entire household...not fun. So now I'm taking a break from spraying the whole house with Lysol to quickly post this card that I must have uploaded 4 days ago. Time flies when you're laying around in your jammies eating crackers and sipping Gingerale. :(

This card is stamp free and simple to put together. I used the gorgeous Circa 1934 line by Cosmo Cricket, paired with a doily I distressed with Antique Linen ink, and added a few other doodads. :) Sorry for the lack of links in this post- I'm typing this on my husband's laptop and have no idea how to highlight, etc...my usual computer is our bedroom where my husband is currently quarantined; it is HIS turn now for the flu. :(

Another Viva la Verve!

Can you tell I'm having fun playing along in these Verve sketch challenges? So far so good on that 2011 goal for playing along AND actually get them uploaded...haha. :) This was for week 3 of the sketches over on the Verve forum at Splitcoaststampers.

I haven't pulled out my Verve stamps in awhile, so I was happy to play along in Viva la Verve's week 2 sketch (VLVJAN2011).

I used papers from the Love Birds collection by Fancy Pants, and the All About You and Thoughtful Florals stamp sets. I inked all edges, and spritzed the ribbon with Glimmer Mist before tying it in a bow and sticking a pretty ol' stick pin in it! :) Enjoy and have a great day!!

Some Odd Girl Anniversary Week- Mini Cards

As we are winding down the Some Odd Girl anniversary week, we have one more small (some might even call it mini) challenge for you: make a Mini Card. What is that? For the purpose of this challenge a mini card is a card that is 3" x 4" or SMALLER. It must have a Some Odd Girl digi but other than that size requirement, sky's the limit! A small sky :)


My sample is 3" x 4" and uses Flyin' High Mae.

Some Odd Girl Anniversary Week!

Here is another fun challenge for all you folks out there celebrating with us Odd Girls! We've done this on our Digi Day before and everyone had a great time so we're bringing it to Anniversary Week! It's simple; pick 3 elements from the list (each beginning with a letter from SOME ODD GIRL) and pull them together into a project with a SOG Digi.

Girly, you rock!

Here's a CAS (clean and simple) card that I submitted to the latest call at Paper Crafts magazine. Since I'm showing it to you here...you know what that means...it didn't get chosen. That's okay! :) That means I get to share it with you!! Stay positive right? This followed a colour challenge. The cardstock base itself was run through my Grand Calibur machine using an impression plate from Papertrey Ink, and looks just fabulous IRL.

First up is one of my favourite ODD cards based on a sketch challenge we did...I've used Fluffy Love for this card. So colourful, so cheerful, and I've used good ol' Fluffy A LOT during my time on this amazing design team! That's why this card is one of my faves...because of Fluffy, haha. Next up is Rain Cloud. I like this card because it's simplistic. Barely any colouring other than a light shadow around the image, and that bold pop of orange reallly makes the card stand out! This is a card I made for the VERY FIRST release that Some Odd Girl had!! See the original post here.



This card was for a Some Odd Girl rainbow challenge and I used the ever versatile TREE. I ended up giving this card to my best friend to celebrate her son's baptism. :) This card is one of my faves because a) I love the TREE image and b) anything rainbows is awesome! See the original post here.




Well now. Pretty lil' Tiny Tia. I've never been a huge fan of colouring 'people' but Tia changed all that. This was for a 'girly' challenge hosted by Some Odd Girl last December. Tiny Tia in all her various forms/costumes is probably my favourite character from the SOG line of digis. She's just so sweet and reminds me of my darling daughter! See the original post here.




And last but not least...a card using Sheepy. I entered this card in a Moxie Fab challenge featuring 'punny' sentiments. I think that "I {heart} ewe" is appropriate! I love this card because it follows my bright and bold love affair with colour, and it pairs my love of Some Odd Girl with Sassafrass Lass papers. :) See the original post here.

Sentimental about you...

Ahhh, sketches! I think that will be my main inspiration for 2011. Nothing beats that little bit of extra help in getting started on a creation. For this 'clean and simple' card I used FTL121 from the Clean & Simple challenge blog; a sketch that was from mid-December, but is timeless in my opinion! The pink 'flower' is actually cut from a piece of Prima ribbon. Sentiment is from the the Clearly Sentimental About You set by My Favorite Things.

Challenge Day at Some Odd Girl

Welcome to the first official challenge of 2011 for Some Odd Girl! We're starting the year off by asking YOU to show us your skills at EMBOSSING! Well, let me tell ya, I loooove my embossing folders and impression plates, but haven't pulled out the ol' heat gun in awhile, so I decided to use a combination of all 3 on my card today.
This is the ultra cute Valentine Tobie and I created a boyish card that I will likely give to my sweet son in a few weeks on Valentine's Day. I've shown embossing using an impression plate, a folder, and heat embossing using powder. :) Enjoy!

Hot Mama

I created this card for Mojo Monday's sketch 172...so far so good on entering challenges and ACTUALLY getting them uploaded for my 2011 goals!! :) Hahaha. I paper pieced most of the image, colouring the rest with my Copics. I inked all edges and created the paper flower using circle punches and glue! Enjoy! I gave this card to one of my girlfriends, due in May. She is one of around 5 it seems that are pregnant! :)

A scrapbook page!

It's been awhile since I have posted a scrapbook page! I create them quite often, usually when I'm 'stuck' creating a card, or have little inspiration left. Then I just pull out a cute photo (of my children most often) and scrap away! I like to use sketches, particularly Jana Eubank's Sketches. She has her fabulous sketches all made into lovely templates available for download to print off and use for yourself! This page highlights something obvious- my son's first day of school. Digi Day @ Some Odd Girl!

It's another Digi Day for Some Odd Girl over at the PCP and SNR sites. Since we're all still recovering from the holiday hustle and bustle, this time around it's a mellow type of event. Check out the challenge blog for specific details as how to play along. I'll tell you this much, making a Valentine's Day card WITHOUT pink or red was a struggle but I did it!!! :) Check out the ultra cute Valentine Tobie. I paired him up with the least girly paper I could find in the Love Birds collection by Fancy Pants, added a doily (couldn't escape the girly on that one!), and a CUTIE PIE rub-on. Voila! A perfect card to give my nephew this Valentine's Day!

Celebrate!

Nothing beats a bright, bold birthday card! This one is about as bright as it gets, using cheerful papers from the Sassasfrass Lass Nerdy Bird collection. What's great about these papers is that instead of trimming off that annoying piece at the bottom of each 12x12 paper and tossing it, instead it is a decorative border perfect for using on your creations!

I stamped right on the sticker, cut up a Zva crystal for interest and used my Bow Easy to make that cute double bow. Enjoy!

Top 10 of 2010

I've seen this on other blogs as well in the last few days, and thought it was a good idea!! Here's my Top 10 cards from 2010...in no particular order!!

A cheery Christmas card using some fabulous dies from Papertrey Ink- my new favourite products from this company!

I just love this card...the stamped background, the pewter flourish, and the lovely sentiment...*sigh*

What says cuteness like a dino from MFT? :) I really like my colouring on this one...practise makes perfect when it comes to Copic markers!

This was one of my first cards done using a set from Waltzingmouse Stamps....love those fall colours and that splash of purple.

Tiny Tia from Some Odd Girl. Cute, girly and a pink overload! Love it!

Shades of cream and gold ooze elegance in my opinion- and that pearl flourish?! Ohhhh my! That luscisus ribbon!? Ahhhh. And who doesn't love Thickers by American Crafts?!

I can't get enough of the Capella collection by Basic Grey. Greys, purples and soft pink? Soooo pretty.

More Capella, more Thickers. Nuff' said. :)

This was an invitation to my daughter Robin's 1st birthday party waaaaay back in January 2010. I love how sweet it turned out! This one went in her baby book. :)

In 2010 I joined the Some Odd Girl design team- my first design team ever! This card using Longneck Dino from was published in Scrapbook News and Review July 2010 issue.
