Mother birthday

A pretty 'mom' birthday card...nope, not for my momma- that was waaay back in September (I won't tell you how old she was...). A friend requested a 'pretty' birthday card for her mom that was in earth tones. Well, I think I accomplished that! I had that lacy Origins paper in my stash forever- I buy that kind of stuff and then never know WHAT to do with it. So here I just layered it over some more designer paper and let it take centre stage. That punched flower was done using a 1/2" circle punch and some glue dots- easy peasy! :)

WT294 with Witchy Kitty!

I told you I'd be back today with another post!! I used the ever-cute Witchy Kitty from Some Odd Girl and stamped around her with my Framed set from PTI for Splitcoaststamper's WT294- Frames challenge. I really like how I coloured ol' Witchy, but I wish that PTI's Orange Zest ink wasn't so 'gunky'...ewww it stamps thick and not really at all orange coloured! I can't wait until their new ink formulas debut! This kitty is more about the treats than the tricks this Halloween...she's too cute to spook!

Birthday butterfly!

I can't believe I haven't blogged since Monday! Life is BUSY for this momma these days. You all know the drill I'm sure! Too bad blogging doesn't top my list of priorities, although I wish it did because I truly love it...I'm even going to attempt TWO posts today...look for some Halloween Some Odd Girl fun later tonight!

This was my first attempt at using PTI's new Framed set...not sure I like the result but that won't stop me from trying again! :) I used the 'birthday' sentiment to fit in the blank space and on top of that included my 'happy' sentiment from the Hero Arts set. The little butterfly 'tail' comes from a swirly piece in the PTI Calendar Basics set.

CARS birthday!

I was thrilled to find a Lightening McQueen stamp at my LSS The Paper Pickle! PERFECT for my son's recent 4th birthday. What little boy doesn't just love the Disney movie CARS? Mine does that's for sure, although I had to point out the card to him of course, because a 4 year old is WAY more interested in the presents... I paired McQueen with the Wander collection by Basic Grey, drew a wavy 'road' in using a black marker, added a few brads, a birthday sentiment, and the card was complete. At first I thought the image was a little too bright for the paper but in the end it is was it is! :) Here's a picture of my sugar-pie chowing down on some good ol' birthday cupcakes. :) Ignore the mess in the background- birthday celebrations are more fun that way!!

Babies are...

I think this sentiment is just the cutest- isn't that true though? :) Nothing is sweeter than a baby...the smell (the good smell that is), the way their tiny fingers grasps yours, the little coos they make...but I better get off this 'baby talk' or my wonderful husband might have something to say about that! No more babies here folks! That's okay...I can still get my 'baby urges' out by making cards. :)

I used my new Beaded Circles Nestabilities by Spellbinders for this card, paired with the ever-sweet Olivia collection by Basic Grey. I felt the patterned paper had so much design to it that it was all the card really needed. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Welcome to Style Challenge #8 for Some Odd Girl!!! One of my fave kind of challenges- a colour one! Very Halloween inspired...don't you think? As you can see, orange was my main inspiration with a teeny, tiny touch of purple and green thrown in. I printed out my pumpkins digi twice, coloured them, cut them out and popped them up. Finding those sparkly purple Thickers in my stash was a bonus! I hand cut the 'sign' and inked all edges with black ink...done! Welcome Fall!

Oh. My. Goodness. I just LOVE the Wreath for All Seasons set by Papertrey Ink. It is so homey, warm and beautiful! I couldn't wait to ink it up once it arrived in the mail and this is the first card I made with it. Very fall-ish isn't it? That Terracotta Tile cardstock just screams to be paired with Rustic Cream! :) My Bow Easy made that cute double bow as simple as could be. This was an easy card to put together as the image really takes centre stage. I seriously can't wait to make some Christmas cards with this set either!

Bright and Bold Birthday!

Who doesn't need a boy birthday card once in awhile? I think this one is perfect for a young man too old for dinosaurs, trucks or cowboys images, and young enough yet not have tree, sailboat or antique car images. :) :) And NO STAMPING!? What?! The It's My Party collection by Bo Bunny has a wonderful cut out sheet that you can cut apart and use for sentiments, images or whatever else you want to use them for. I added a punched cardstock strip and a few buttons to jazz it up.

Welcome little one!

Right now I am headed to our nation's capital- Ottawa!!! Yeah!! I have a wedding to go to for a girlfriend that I lived with in my second year of university (I went to Carleton...yeah Ravens!) so my handsome hubby and I are driving the 7 hours there to see Erin get married and tour around a bit. I love that city SO much- lots to do and see at all times of the year.

Vintage wedding

A request for a Victorian/antique-ish wedding card...and here is the result. The 'buyer' wanted lace, pearls, cream colours and an all-around vintage-y feel. That lace paper from Basic Grey REALLY set the tone for me and I went from there! Aren't those pearl flourishes from Prima just divine??! I love how you can cut them up and use them all in pieces here and there if you wish. It's a gorgeous fall day today so I'm going to head outside while the babes are sleeping and take some pics of my latest creations while there is still lots of natural sunlight.

Give Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians. Right now I can smell my Grandma's delicious corn pudding recipe baking in the oven and I admit, I'm starting to drool!! My husband is away on business this holiday weekend but I'm still packing the kids up and going to his mother's house for a fabulous Thanksgiving meal. I reallllly hope there is a BIG pumpkin pie to dig into! I {heart} my in-laws. :)

Some Odd Girl Challenge Day- fabric!

Some Odd Girl's current challenge features FABRIC. Not your usual ribbon, lace, twine or thread...but good ol' fabric of some kind. I cut up an old pair of jeans and decided to use them as a background of sorts paired with Flyin' High Mae. Old bluejeans eh? SO WHAT if I outgrew them???!!! Geez. I used my fingernail and kind of ruffled the edges of the denim so it was a little more raggedy looking. A nice birthday card for a sweet girl!

Halloween Birthday

What is more fun that creating a Halloween birthday card!? Papertrey Ink's Tiny Treats: Halloween had my name alllll over it when I saw it being released a month or so ago. I knew I would use it for years to come in creating little projects for my son's class. Seriously, I'm so glad Jake is in school now because I have the opportunity to make all these wonderful handmade holiday treats for his classmates!!! :) I made this card up for a friend who needed a birthday card and because of that, I have absolutely fallen in love with that Mat Stack 4 die!!! MFT Let's Play Dress Up!

This is my first time playing along with MFT's Wednesday Stamp Club because the theme of 'Let's Play Dress Up' was just too good to pass up on! AND I had the cutest little stamp set that I bought from CHA this summer and hadn't used yet (shame on me!) so I thought I had better get it inked up. :) I actually saw Carole Burrage's post using the same set and loved it, so that was my 'kick in the butt' so to speak! Some of those MFT ladies that attended CHA won't likely remember me, but I tagged along with my mom, the Lucky Clucker and had drinks with you gals one night! :)
Things to note: I used my Zig marker to draw a black line across the bottom of the image to 'ground' him, and I hand cut the sentiment panel.

Fabulous at 30

There is another year before I hit the 3-0 mark, but this card will suit a 'friend of a friend' who is turning 30 shortly! She requested a fun and funky card that she could give her friend...so whattya think? I used Basic Grey Olivia papers because I just LOVED the pink and black leopard print paper!! The flower is cut from the Think Pink cartridge of my Slice machine. I cut it three times, each time a bit smaller.

I love it when I find something old in my stash that has been sitting around for awhile and I can put it to good use! That's what happened with these Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety chipboard pieces. I decided to use them as my focal piece instead of a stamped image and I like the way it turned out!
Things to note: I added some glittery Stickles to the bee's wings; I snipped the ends of the sentiment panel to draw interest and for once didn't ink any edges! Just fresh and clean looking!

I've been sporadic with my postings of late. My husband travels quite a bit for his business and is just starting up again with his 'busy season.' We had him home all summer so it's taking some getting used to 'running' the household by myself again.
