A fruity release from Some Odd Girl!

Welcome to another amazing release by Some Odd Girl!!! This month is quite...FRUITY! :) I am just in love with the digis this time around, with my personal fave being Gala! Who wouldn't want to take a bite out of, er, I mean, BUY up all those sweet, delicious digis? Not to mention those pretty gals, Mae and Kaylee! Let me tell you, my Copics were screaming to be let out and colour up ALL these delights! I know after seeing them, yours probably are too!

Where has June gone too?! I keep talking about all the things our family is going to do this summer and had I better get at them because summer really is HERE! For all the weddings we attended last year, this year we have not a ONE...that's almost a relief- babysitters to get, gifts to buy, fancy clothes to iron. Now I'm just busy making cards for everyone ELSE who has weddings to attend. :)

I kept this card simple, stamping right on the patterned paper and adding a bit of sparkly Stickles for shimmer and shine. Yes, another punched flower. I love them, they're easy to make, you won't see me stop making them anytime soon. Nuff' said.

A soft, serene wedding card for a beautiful June day. I made a WHACK load of wedding cards this week to replenish my stash so look for a LOT of lovey-dovey on my blog in the next little while. :) Gorgeous Basic Grey papers make it easy to whip up a card, and those Prima flowers...!!! OOOOOoooo I just LOVE them!

My husband and I took our children to a parade (part of a town fair) last night and I'm pretty sure my daughter wants to be a motorcycle mama...! Everytime those big bikes drove past her she would just scream with laughter and wave to them! Sooo cute. Jake's fave part was OF COURSE all the John Deere tractors! Who doesn't love cotton candy, lawn chairs pulled up close to the curb, and waiting anxiously for those people on the floats to throw a handful of candy right your way!? I do!

It's just like you to be so NICE!

I love the fresh, fun look of this card! Colourful, one of those easy flowers I love making, AND my fave papers from October Afternoon...all combined in a cheerful card! Wouldn't this card make you smile if you got it the mail!? :) Have a fabulous weekend everyone...we are taking the kids to see a parade and have fun at a local summer fair. Butterfly Birthday

Who doesn't love butterflies? I do! I was folding clothes the other day and noticed Robin must have 15 teeny tiny dresses, shirts and other outfits with butterflies on them, so my love must have transferred onto her clothing collection! I even have 2 butterfly tattoos (shhh, don't tell my grandmother!) and am considering another one. :) This cute felt butterfly from the Lemonade collection by Basic Grey has been in my stash for awhile now calling my name and I'm glad I finally have used it!! Another fast card to put together...the most time consuming part of this one was folding the ribbon up!

up, up, up aaaaannnnddd AWAY!!!!

Okay, so there was an extra 'up' in there. :) This Papertrey Ink set makes it easy to create a very simple, yet beautiful (alright, in MY not-so-humble opinion!) card in minutes...even better-? Dies to match!!! Yeah!!!

I love that the cloud images have a slight linen look to them...just a little detail that makes them extra beautiful. I outlined them with a white gel pen to make them 'pop'. This card could be made in all KINDS of colour combinations!!

A day late!

Here's another Father's Day card for you to take a look at...one day after! That's okay, my dad got his in time- hand delivered from across the road of course. :) We had a lovely family supper with my mom, dad, grandparents and siblings- kids ran through the sprinkler, cold beverages were enjoyed and lots of laughs as always! The best kind of way to spend your Sunday.

Lovely way to get your clear gems the colour you want- colour them with a Copic marker! I'm sure all you pros have already tried this once or twice...

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all you wonderful dad's out there. I myself have a fabulous dad! Seriously- he's the best! He likes to stop in for quick visits practically everyday (my husband and I bought a farm next door to my parents) to see his grandkids...sometimes he gets so wrapped up with MY kids, that I have to remind him to say hi to me too!!

Dad LOVES Volkswagen's...this car from Enjoy the Ride looks close enough to one that I knew I would use it for his card this year. I also used the little compass from Father Knows Best. When dad popped in tonight to say hi to the kids, Jake said, "Grandpa, we made a card with a Volkswagen on it for you!!" (so excited about it!) Dad just laughed and told Jake that was probably supposed to be a secret until tomorrow...oh well, we had a good laugh anyway!

Here's a picture of my dad and I last October at a wedding we all attended for a family friend...ignore my wide open mouth- it's hereditary- both dad and I (and now Jake) are known for our constant visiting! Clearly I couldn't close my mouth long enough for the picture to be taken! :)

All that Glitter!

Ahhh glitter. I love to be surrounded by it...I really think Broadway show girl was my true calling. Not librarian. :) When I found out this was the next challenge for Some Odd Girl I screeched...really, my hubby thought I was having a fit of some sort. Having the chance to dig into my glitter stash and get messy is a dream come true so I took this opportunity to glitter up HOOT, one of the newest, latest releases from Some Odd Girl. For a glittery, WOW factor, I added chunky glitter, Spica glitter markers and Stickles!!

Thinking of You while Up, Up and Away!

How's that for a one-layer card? I love playing around with the Up, Up and Away set by Papertrey Ink. It really speaks to my heart- all those cloud, kite and balloon images- so quirky, cute and fun!!

This card is one of 10 that I made up in a set for someone else. They requested one layer cards for easier mailing, and I kept the concept simple. Each card has a different sentiment and image depending on the 'mood' of the card...obviously the sympathy one included isn't so cheery!

Fly a Kite on your birthday!

So, do you wish I was done with my Fly a Kite October Afternoon paper pack yet?? :) I just can't get enough of it! I used it here on my cousin's birthday card- paired with a sentiment from a classic Papertrey Ink set and my handy Slice machine (I used it for the '30'). I feel like I just kept adding and adding more stuff to this card, but in the end it turned out just great in my opinion! I hope you like it as well!

Some of you have probably seen these flowers I've been making lately...here, here and here. :) I love pulling out my circle punches and creating my own embellishments. It doesn't take long, and the result is beautiful and you don't need to root around your stash for a pre-made matching flower!! Follow along so you can run off to your craft corner and start making some of your own!!

Here are the supplies you will need: A circle punch; a 1/2" circle punch; adhesive; scrap paper; designer paper; distress ink







1. Punch a circle (you can use scrap paper- you won't see it at all) and cover one side with adhesive of some sort. I use Scor Tape or my glue ring.






2. Punch enough 1/2" circles for your flower (For a 3 layer flower: 10 circles for outside row, 9 for next one, 7 for inside row) and starting with the outer row, layer them around the edge of the scrap punched circle, gently folding them up as you go.





3. Repeat with all punched 1/2" circles until all are layered around circle, staggering them as you go. I have only shown half of the flower completed so you can see how I staggered them.

4. Inked edges with distress ink (if desired) and add centre piece- sometimes I use a simple 1/2" punched circle of a coordinating colour, other times I use a brad or decorative piece of some sort.

Here is the finished result- a pretty handmade embellishment to decorate my card using HOOT (to be released June 15th)!! Thanks for stopping to look and now it's time to carry on to Ann's blog!!

Oh it's a lovely, sunny day here and I'm looking out the window wondering what I'm doing inside typing up a blog post when I should be outside gardening...or better yet, lazing in my sun chair with a good book!! :) So I"ll keep this quick so I can go out and do that very thing!!! I used one of those fabulous October Afternoon Journal Cards, from the Fly a Kite collection for my centre image and went from there! Simple, pretty and gets the point across! :)

Enjoy the Ride is one of the cutest sets Papertrey Ink has come out with. The ability to stamp whatever little sentiment you want (there are 15 included in the set!!) on the license plate of the car is just too great! ANOTHER beautiful day!

I enjoy my morning coffee early every a.m., before the kiddos wake up, casually sipping while I cruise around blog-land getting inspiration from all the various crafters on my blog roll. I came across these cards one day by Geny Cassady and was inspired. It was my way of finally putting to use that beautiful floral image from the Baby Button Bits set.

Once in a while...

What a beautiful sentiment isn't it? Who doesn't love a good fairy tale? My favourite as a child was "Snow White and Rose Red," a story about two sisters...it's a lesser known story but my delightful husband searched high and low for a book that had that particular story in it and gave it to me on our first Valentine's Day together. That's how I knew he was a keeper! :) I have fallen in love with these gorgeous Prima flowers and have promised myself to not buy anymore until I have used up some of what I already have...trying, trying, resisting the urge!! :)

A Beautiful day

This card makes me happy. It's bright, happy and evokes love. Just a perfect card to post early this Saturday a.m. I rushed to take this picture after supper last night and so the light isn't the greatest...next time I'll remember to get out there a bit earlier!

I used an extremely cute Journal Card from the October Afternoon Fly a Kite collection for my centre panel and stamped the beautiful Unity image right on it. The heart on the door is coloured with a Copic marker and glittered with a clear Spica glitter marker. I love, love, love making those paper flowers and added one for interest up in the corner...can't get enough of making my own embellishments!

I think On My Couch and the addition set by Papertrey Ink are just the cutest sets in the world. I am delighted by all the fabulous combinations you can come up with!! Even better- now they have a couch die so no more fussing with your scissors.

I used my Copic marker to give the plant a bit of colour, made sure all edges were inked and distressed and added some staples to keep this card a little more 'manly'

Wedding Joy

There is a whole lot happening on this card! Another card using Cappella by Basic Grey. The colours in this line are just stunning- plum, soft rose, hints of grey, black, brown and slate blue. There is just so many things to draw from when getting inspiration!

I love the newest anniversary set from Papertrey Ink- 2009! This one is an 'earn it', can't 'buy it' set. I won't tell you how many sets my mom and I earned. You will be sick to know! :)
