In love with Cappella...

Okay here it is...my new favourite Basic Grey paper line- Cappella. For this week anyway. :) I am in DIRE need of wedding cards- a LOT of June brides around here, so I've been busy creating for myself, and for friends and neighbours who need a few as well.

I used a sketch from the Go-To Sketches magazine (yup, again!) and incorporated some lovely letter Thickers. The chipboard heart is just a misc. piece floating around in my stash, so I grabbed it, covered it with paper, inked the edges and voila! Elegance! Thanks for looking!

Supplies:
Ink: Chai (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: True Black (Papertrey Ink); Cappella 6x6 paper pack (Basic Grey)
Other: Ribbon (Ellen Hutson); Thickers (American Craft); chipboard heart (misc.); Sweet Blush button (Papertrey Ink); stick pin (from Playdate kit from Noel Mignon); scalloped rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders)

First birthday and flower talk!

I have only recently discovered "Mo's" after seeing some in rubber from Stamping Bella...so I wandered over to her online store, Mo's Digital Pencil Shop, and my jaw dropped! I couldn't believe the 'wonderful-ness' of her digis!! This cutie jumped out at me and I immediately printed it off and started colouring!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend (so far!). I spent yesterday hosting a multi-family yard sale on our lawn with not much success. Despite the beautiful day there were not many "buyers" but I did get quite a few of my baby items sold...won't be needing those again!! :) This morning my sweet Jake and I went out and FINALLY bought some flowers to plant around the house- I went for a coral/purple colour combo which might sound weird, but is it ever pretty!! Flowers are not my area of expertise, but do they ever make me happy!

Supplies:
Stamps: digital image (Mo's Digital Pencil Shop); Bitty Baby Blessings (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Copics; Chamomile (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Pure Poppy, Aqua Mist, white, Kraft, Dotty Biscotti designer paper (Papertrey Ink)
Other: gems (Zva)

Lolli stars in SC282

I haven't used my "Lolli" digi in awhile and decided to show her some love. SC282 over at Splitcoaststampers was the perfect way to do that. I paired this cute digi image with Green at Heart papers by Basic Grey, and an appropriate sentiment from Little Paper Shop. I guess I didn't shake my Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist enough, so it was a bit 'blobbier' than I intended. Don't forget that June 1st you will see more cuteness from Some Odd Girl as we head into our next release! Look for exciting digis coming every 2 weeks throughout the summer...can you handle that!? :)

Supplies:
Stamps: Lolli digi (Some Odd Girl); Grandparents (Little Paper Shop)
Ink: Copic markers; green (Colorbox); Chamomile (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Green at Heart (Basic Grey); white (Papertrey Ink)
Other: Gems (Doodlebug Designs); Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels)

Happy 30th birthday!

Happy 30th birthday to no one in particular...that's just the only numbers I had left! :) Scrap Your Crap had a fun challenge this month- to use up some of those alphabet and number stickers we all have lying around. Seems like all the 'Thickers' I have (my fave brand) only have the J-A-K-E or R-O-B-I-N letters used up...wonder why??
I used a Go-To Sketch for this card (again!!??) and incorporated one of those gorgeous Basic Grey Nook and Pantry brads...so pretty! Maybe I'll set this one aside for next year when myself and most of my girlfriends turn the big, wonderful 3-0.
Supplies:
Stamps: Birthday Basics (PTI)
Ink: Terracotta Tile, Chai (PTI)
Paper: Kraft (PTI); Nook and Pantry 6x6 collection (Basic Grey)
Other: Scalloped circle punch (EK Success); Scalloped circle and plain circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders); gems (Kaisercraft); Nook and Pantry brad (Basic Grey); number stickers 'Thickers' (American Craft)

Fishing fun, fireworks and flourishes

I hope all my Canadian friends had a happy and safe holiday weekend! We sure did. Our little town's annual fishing derby was on Sunday afternoon down at the river and my kids really enjoyed themselves running around and visiting with the neighbours. They were too little to do any fishing this year, not to mention my husband is away and this momma is not one to bait a hook...ew! It is one of my favourite days of the year! :)

Here's a picture of my two sweeties enjoying a cold treat after a long afternoon in the sun (thank goodness for sunscreen!!). And of course, my little 'fisherwoman' holding her pole (no hook on it of course!). Aren't they adorable?? :)
Afterwards we made our way across the road to our neighbours who always host a potluck barbecue and put on some fireworks...it's always my excuse to test out a new frozen dessert recipe and catch up with old friends. I just love where we live. :)

This card was for a bridal shower...not very bright or colourful, yet still pretty. I used a sketch from the recent Go-To Sketches magazine and paired it with Basic Grey Origins papers. The flourish was a leftover accent from the Origins scrapbook kits- how handy! :)

Supplies:
Stamps: Scattered Showers (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Chai (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Rustic Cream (Papertrey Ink); Origins 6x6 pack (Basic Grey)
Other: Flourish, decorative brad (Basic Grey); circle punch (EK Success)

You're So Sweet!

Happy holiday weekend to all you Canadians! Monday is our Victoria Day holiday, and I plan on spending it with the kids playing outside, roasting hot dogs and watching fireworks! Here's a card using some patriotic Canadian colours (although I should have saved this card for Canada Day on July 1). I pulled out a neglected Cuttlebug folder for this one...and love the result! Isn't that ribbon the cutest!? I FINALLY took out my Bow Easy and I think I've mastered it...onto bigger and better bows now! :)

Everyone have a fabulous weekend and be safe!Supplies:
Stamps: Everyday Button Bits (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: New Leaf, Pure Poppy, Chai (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Pure Poppy, White, Kraft (Papertrey Ink)

Three times the fun- Some Odd Girl STASH challenge

Okay, so the previous Some Odd Girl 'stash' challenge was to use NO patterned paper (ACK!!)... this time it was to use at least THREE kinds of patterned paper- from different manufacturers/lines no less!! There's nothing like a little designer paper to inspire you! :) As soon as my 6x6 Basic Grey pad of Max & Whiskers arrived in the mail I KNEW it would be fabulous for the cute little Kitten About that I wanted to use for this challenge. I used a thin black Zig marker to draw the line where kitty is standing so she (yes, I think it's a SHE) didn't look like she was floating in air. :) All edges are inked with Papertrey Ink's Chamomile ink, and that wonderful black Zva flourish was a last minute addition after I stared and stared for ever, trying to figure out 'what else' this card needed! :)
Now hop on over to the challenge blog to get the details for entering your OWN creation in this fabulous challenge- you KNOW you have enough designer paper lying around to play along!!! :)
Supplies:
Stamps: Kitten About digi stamp (Some Odd Girl); sentiment (Pink Cat Studio)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Chamomile (Papertrey Ink); Copic markers, Spica glitter markers (Copic)
Paper: Kraft, white (Papertrey Ink); patterned Kraft paper (Jillibean Soup); 8x8 "Collectors Item" from Thrift Shop (October Afternoon); 6x6 "Sasha" from Max & Whiskers (Basic Grey); canvas material (misc.)
Other: black flourish (Zva); Labels One Nestabilities (Spellbinders); Scalloped border punch (SU!)

Enjoy the Ride on your birthday!

Not the best picture folks, sorry. Gloomy days here last week and I was too lazy to get my photo box out. I just LOVE all the April releases from Papertrey Ink and I'm finally getting around to playing with some of them. It's about time! That woodgrain background is just too fabulous- I can see SO many possibilities! The best part about the cute Enjoy the Ride set is all the fun sentiments you can stamp on the license plate; this set can be used for almost any occasion you can think of! This card was easy to make and doesn't have a lot of 'fuss or muss' but I think the background and main image let the card shine for itself!

Details- I paper pieced the car on to Dotty Biscotti designer paper and cut it out (the die cut wasn't available at the time I purchased the set, but I have it on order now), and used a black marker to draw in the little wavy line/road. I also punched out the headlights using a 1/4" circle punch, and coloured them with a clear Spica glitter marker.

Supplies: (all Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted)
Stamps: Enjoy the Ride, Background Basics: Woodgrain
Ink: New Leaf, Chai, Dark Chocolate; Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); black marker (Zig); Spica glitter (Copic)
Paper: Kraft, New Leaf, Dotty Biscotti
Other: 1/4" circle punch (SU!)

Wedding Congratulations

I made this for a neighbour who needed a few wedding cards this spring (yeah for wedding season!!).

I decided to use the Go-To Sketches magazine for inspiration (AGAIN!!??) and modeled this card after one in there. I created the flower myself, using punched circles and Scor Tape, and added that beautiful flourish in behind. That sentiment fit the card perfectly AND added to the elegance of the card.

Thanks for looking today everyone! I love these morning blogging minutes that I get- sipping my coffee while the children are watching their morning cartoons...it's about the only time of the day until they are sleeping peacefully at night that I get my little 'alone' time. :)

Supplies:
Stamps: sentiment (Close to My Heart)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Chamomile (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink); 8x8 designer papers from Cherry Hill collection (October Afternoon)
Other: Pure Poppy button (Papertrey Ink); black flourish (Zva); 1" circle punch, corner rounder (EK Success); Stud centres (Prima)

I'm hoping this card comes off as masculine enough! It's for a friend who became a recent first time homeowner- and of course, a card is deserved for the occasion. :) I used a fabulous Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge (from a few weeks ago) on this one- a great way to use up scraps by the way!- Number 66 to be exact.

Another Mother's Day card!

Just one more Mother's Day card to show you before the big day. I have a new found love for October Afternoon 8x8 paper pads. Oh WOW are they ever gorgeous!! :) You can see I've been using them a lot lately.

The general idea of this card is based off of an old one of Lisa Johnson's. I used one of her cards as my inspiration for a previous Papertrey Ink Blog Hop, and loved the sketch so much, I've used it again. You can see her original card AND my other interpretation here.

I wasn't the only one who was happy with card- my dear mother-in-law was browsing through my card collection (oh please tell me the rest of you have 100 or so cards laying around too!) and picked this one out for her mom. I'm glad someone else can get enjoyment out of my creations! :)

Right now I'm starting to wonder if I'm crazy, but I'm going to take some of my supplies to the local library today where I work, and let the kids use them to make Mother's Day cards...don't worry, I've gone through my stash and they are only using stuff I never use anymore! :) They are going to be making a flapfold card using this tutorial.

Supplies:
Stamps: Because of You (Verve Visual)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Chai (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Pure Poppy, Melon Berry, Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink); Thrift Shop 8x8 papers (October Afternoon)
Other: Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders); flower (Making Memories); gems (Kaisercraft); Scalloped border punch (SU!); Pure Poppy ribbon (Papertrey Ink); foam dimensionals

Well, I'm an 80's baby myself, as is my husband and most of my girlfriends, so I decided to do a baby card. Stretching it? Okay, maybe a little...but I DID use Molly Ringwald and her Pretty In Pink (1986) movie for my colour scheme and those ruffles.

Mother: go-to-sketches inspired!!

I lllloooove the new Go-To Sketches magazine from Paper Crafts. LOVE it. Llllllove it. It's already torn, stained and crumpled because I have read it so much. I have sketches circled, arrowed and sticky-tabbed...Get the picture?? :)
Here is a card for Mother's Day with inspiration coming straight from the pages of Volume One (Oh please, oh please, oh please tell me there will be a volume 2, 3, 4...etc.). Fancy schmancy details are: I used the Cuttlebug embossing folder with my trusty rolling pin instead of my Big Shot, because I wanted the impression to be 'lighter.' Finished size is...uhhh...I don't know! I forgot to measure...somewhere around 3.5x6" though. :)

Supplies:
Stamps: Because of You (Verve Visual)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Chamomile (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: Vintage Cream, Kraft (Papertrey Ink)
Other: 'Ballerina blooms' (Prima); pearls (Kaisercraft); Cuttlebug embossing folder (Provo Craft)

My Balloon!

Did everyone have a good weekend?? I spent Saturday afternoon (ahem, National Scrapbooking Day!!) at Scrappin' Great Deals stocking up on some much needed (okay, not needed at all, but really desired!) supplies. Then of course, I came home to organize it all and play! That's my kind of fun! Did I mention that I put the kids to bed a half hour early so I could get at all my new fun stuff... :)

I just LOVE those Pure Innocence stamps over at My Favorite Things...they are just, well...pure innocence. :) Yeah, yeah, get on with the card...

I used My Balloon and coloured her in with Copic markers and created a pretty blocked background using designer paper by Papertrey Ink. Nothing real fancy on this card, just plain ol' stamping and colouring. Finished this card measures 5 1/4" square.

Supplies:
Stamps: My Balloon (MFT); Mega Mixed Messages (PTI)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Copic markers; Chamomile (PTI)
Paper: white, Lavender Moon, Pretty Pastels (PTI)
Other: Oval and Scalloped Oval Nestabilities (Spellbinders); flower (Prima); gem (Kaisercraft)

National Scrapbook Day!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!! One of my favourite days of the year...after National Card Making Day of course. And Christmas. And my birthday. And...well, it's one of my faves anyway. I'm celebrating by leaving my kids with the ever-trusty babysitter (Thanks Ashley!) and heading off to Scrappin' Great Deals with my mom. :)

Since it is a day for us papercrafters to celebrate I thought I'd show you a scrapbook page- seeing as I rarely EVER do that! I couldn't resist Noel Mignon's latest kit PLAYDATE. I follow her blog on Facebook and every once in awhile I'd see an update about how many kits were left and I have to admit, once those numbers got down into the single digits I knew I wasn't going to be able to resist buying one. It was a debate as to whether I truly needed ALL that stuff, but the fun colours, patterns and samples I saw from the design team changed my mind! With only 5 kits left I clicked 'BUY'...haha.

I used one of Jana Eubanks' fabulous sketches (just like with cards, I almost always use a sketch for inspiration) and went from there. Let me tell you...the stuff in this kit is unreal. Paper and other product from a variety of companies that all seem to coordinate...a scrapbookers dream! I am definitely going to check out the next kit...saving my pennies! :) The pics are of my little sweety- Jake. This was Easter Monday while he was busy finding hidden Easter eggs at my mom and dad's place. I'm not going to list supplies; everything is from the Playdate kit which you can see on www.noelmignon.com The only 'extras' I did was using my scalloped border punch on a strip of paper, and my tea dye inks to distress all edges.
