Custom baby shower invitation!

I was asked by a neighbour if I could create 20 invitations to a bridal shower she was hosting for a friend expecting...well, can you guess...a girl! :) I had lots of fun coming up with this design and putting it all together. Baby Button Bits made it SO easy and instead of adding an actual button (to lessen the bulk of the ones being mailed) I punched a 1/2" circle and covered it with glitter. I love the end result and the person who ordered them did too!

Vintage birthday

I made this birthday card for my husband's grandma who is a very special lady. I know that most grandmas are special ladies to many of us, but I really love my grandma-in-law; she is just warm, friendly and funny. AND she loves antiques and all things vintage so I when I found this dress form stamp by Impression Obsession in my stash I knew I had to use it for her birthday card!

I paper pieced the dress with The Thrift Shop papers by October Afternoon (GASP! How gorgeous are these papers!?), adding some colouring with Copic markers particularly to the sash, roses and leaves. I just kept wanting to add touches of everything 'vintagey' that I had, so I eventually had to restrain myself and stop!

Home Sweet Home

I love these glittery die cuts from Crate Paper and decided to use them as my focal point on this card. There isn't much to say about this one, because everything is pretty straight forward! I inked all edges and that's about it. :) It is so glittery and pretty IRL.

Challenge Day!!

I used the fabulous Magic Mae for my 'pretty' card and a Cuttlebug embossing folder for texture where I would have normally used patterned paper. There are a LOT of Spica glitter markers used here- this really SHINES in real life! AND even more so, I sprayed some Tattered Angels Pearl Glimmer Mist over the entire back embossed panel so it has a lovely pearlescent look to it! Some Odd Girl Release Day!!

First up is cute little Sheepy. I used a sketch from the Paper Crafts Go-To-Sketches magazine (also a Moxie Fab challenge right now). I recently bought a 12x12 Sassafrass Lass "Nerdy Bird" kit that came with a little bit of everything, so I used some of the papers, along with that cute cloud sticker.

For Rocket I used SC276 from Splitcoaststampers, paired with Joy Ride papers by Cosmo Cricket. Boy cards are so hard for me! I just want to add glitter, lace and buttons everywhere! :) So instead I used lots of inking, brads and punches.

Some Odd Girl April Freebie- Mae!

This little cutie is Some Odd Girl's April freebie- Mae's Bouquet. Isn't she CUTE?! You can see MORE of Mae on April 20th- release day! Yeah!

The stripey look on Mae's shoes came from gently drawing on them with my Copic blender marker, after they had been coloured. You can't see it very well here, but her headband is coloured with a Spica glitter marker; I wish they showed up better on the computer screen, because does it ever SPARKLE here!

Another Sweet Sunday Sketch!

Another fabulous sketch for the SSSC64 over on Karen's blog- the sweetest thing. I decided to use these CUTE chipboard stickers by Sassafrass Lass (I just love the name of that company...) for my focal point, and turned it into a Mother's Day card! It's funny...I have about 30 Mother's Day cards laying around, and only ONE mother. :) Do you paper crafters have the same problem? The stitching around the popped up panel is 'faux' ie. I used my paper piercer and a brown Zig marker. I'd love to invest in a small sewing machine but don't really have the space for it anywhere on my craft table. Maybe someday!

Somewhere Over the Rainbow...

Ever since seeing the Wizard of Oz as a child, I've always loved rainbows...Dorothy singing "Over the Rainbow" is my favourite part of that movie and just thinking about it makes me want to dig out my dvd and watch it tonight!! I might hold off on showing Jake though- those darn flying monkeys can be SCARY! :)

FS166 For the men!

I don't usually get the chance to find a challenge, create a card, upload and post it all in the same day! It's a miracle! :) This is for SCS Featured Stamper Challenge 166 (FS166) featuring Pat Smethers. I chose to CASE this card of hers. My changes include different image, sentiment and leaf pattern, different patterned paper and I added brads. Add LOTS of inking and around all edges and I was done- didn't take very long! Enjoy!

This card is for my handsome hubby; he travels a lot for business so I like to occasionally tuck a card into his suitcase for him to find when he's unpacking. I think the sentiment applies to the the weather here in Southwestern Ontario--if you don't like it, just wait 5 minutes. We have had sunshine, rain and snow this week!!

Some Odd Girl Challenge Day!!

Today's the big day- the 2nd challenge over at the Some Odd Girl Challenge blog. Every other Thursday we'll be bringing you alternating 'Stash and Style' challenges. Last time it was a fabulous rainbow inspiration challenge- this time it was a fabulous sketch to work with! This is one sketch that is going to be used over and over. I really liked working with it, and you'll probably see LOTS of cards in the next little while with similar elements to the sketch. On reading this, do you think I used the word SKETCH enough?? :) Anyway...on to the card!!

I used the ever sweet Love Birds paired with the colour purple *gasp*! I think this is a colour a lot of paper crafters have trouble using...myself included. I decided to be brave and go for it...haha. I inked all edges, and created the little tag that the LOVE is stamped on myself. I almost out of those lovely American Craft Thickers in sparkly purple...I just LOVE them!!

Teacher- happy birthday!

I coloured this image SO long ago and used it on another card, paired with Marrakech papers by Basic Grey but I just detested it. Yes, detested. :) So I ripped it apart and decided not to waste all that colouring, and started over. This time I am satisfied. I kept with the same Marrakech paper, but did a lot of inking, and added that very manly twine and button (haha).

Boys will be boys :)

My little guy Jake is a typical boy. Play in the mud, madly race his tricycle up and down the lane way, torment his sister, kind of boy. His dimples are what brighten my day when I'm feeling gloomy, and his laugh just delights me.

I took him to see a live show of Franklin the Turtle one day last week and was overwhelmed at his excitement. I hope I always remember the look on his face when Franklin came on stage. Absolute joy.

This card is made with thoughts of him in mind. Dinosaurs, sunny days and plain ol' fun. :) The Longneck Dino by Some Odd Girl is the perfect image for this cute card.
