For a Gracious Hostess
I made this vase using an empty plastic tube from a gift Jake received. I saw the packaging and thought..."Hmmm I can use that!" I'm sure us crafters think that a lot!
I used K & Company Wild Saffron paper for the 'vase' part, with Lemon Tart and Ocean Tides ribbon as an accent. The tag was cut from a Spellbinders Shapeabilities set (Tags 5), while the sentiment is from Mega Mixed Messages stamped in Pure Poppy. I actually used the little polka dots from Polka Dot Basics first, stamped in Ocean Tides, then stamped the sentiment over top.
Twine is misc. from my collection, while the flowers are Primas, and the dots are from Stamping Bella. Those yummy looking flowers are milk chocolate from Laura Secord...YUM!!
I made this as a hostess gift for a friend, but I have since eaten the chocolate myself (whoops!) and will have to track down something else to put in there....hehe.

Boards and Beams, love and dreams!

Is it the 25th already!!?? The last time I attempted the Papertrey Blog Hop was waaayyy back in January and as I sat down to type up my post that day....my water broke...yep. Robin was born January 25th...maybe I should have named her something fitting like Nichole? Or Paper? Ribbon? Nahhhh- Robin suits her perfectly!! So anyway, I'm glad to be back into the swing of things and participating this time around.
Here is the challenge this month:
"Spring and summer tend to be the most colorful out of the four seasons. One color in particular that evokes the warmer weather is yellow!!! Your challenge this month is to use this trendsetting color to the best of it's potential! You can use it in small pieces as an accent or as the main color. Experiment & play, discovering new color combos that perhaps you hadn't thought of before. No matter what, just have fun and enjoy the feeling of happiness that this cheerful color evokes!"
All products are Papertrey Ink, unless I have them linked elsewhere.
I used Boards and Beams for this card, and am going to send it off to a friend who recently bought her first home. I stamped the image and sentiment with Palette Noir ink and coloured the house in with Copics, adding some Spica glitter to the windows. I cut it out using my Top Note die cut by SU! and inked the edges with Lemon Tart ink. Papers used are Lemon Tart cardstock, White Stamper's Select and the Lemon Tart paper from the Bitty Dots collection. I also used the Lemon Tart Swiss Dots ribbon and buttons from the Lemon Tart, Aqua Mist and Sweet Blush collections.
Bridalpartybellas!
Have a great day everyone, and I'll see you again tonight at 5 pm when I post my Papertrey Ink Blog Hop project!

It's a beautiful day!
I used GORGEOUS patterned paper from the Paper Pickle (which I definitely need to buy more of...loved it!) that paired beautifully with Vintage Cream. I'm not sure who makes that particular paper, but it was thick, shimmery and had a great texture to it. Add some ribbon from Papertrey Ink, some vintage buttons (given to me by a friend from her grandmother's collection), and some embossing (which I don't often do, but loved the result this time around) and the card was complete! In case you can't read the sentiment, it says "It's a beautiful day."
I agree...it was my best friend's wedding and I was honoured to be a bridesmaid, and my little Jake was the ringbearer! What an awesome job he did! A beautiful day indeed...

Little baby, big love!
This stork is from the Sweet Love set by Kim Hughes for Cornish Heritage Farms. I paper pieced the 'bundle' with Bitty Dots paper, and glittered up his eyes and wings. paper is Spring Rain and White Stamper's Select cardstock. Ribbon is from the Spring Rain collection, as is the ink I sponged around the edges of the white cardstock. That cute sentiment is from Hero Arts.

The 7 hour stretch...ugh!
I'm pre-posting because I'm away in Ottawa for a few days attending a friend's wedding. Actually, I'm a bridesmaid and my son is the ringbearer! She was my roommate in my 3rd year at Carleton University and we've been best friends every since...she's even my children's godmother. So what does that mean...Oh joy...a 7 hour car ride with a 2 year old!! ACCCKKK! :) I've got lots of new 'stuff' to entertain him, and thank goodness for portable DVD players! I'm sure between my husband and I we can keep him from getting tooooo wiggly :)
Back to Phoebe...I coloured her in with Copics, and paired her up with Porcelain papers from Basic Grey. Very soft and pretty! Add a few Primas, some Stickles, and brads from the Porcelain collection, and Phoebe was all decked out!

Somewhere over the rainbow...
This particular one comes from the Little Gal set by Kim Hughes for Cornish Heritage Farms. I coloured it with my Copics, and added Diamond Stickles to the cloud. I used White Stamper's Select cardstock for my base and the patterned layers are all from the Bitty Dots collection by Papertrey Ink. Of course, I used Nestabilities to cut out the layers, and popped them up with dimensionals. Then finally, colourful brads to finish it off!

A little more Mother's Day...
Both use Spring Moss, Melon Berry and Green Tea Leaves patterned paper, and the Verve Visual set "Because of You".
On the first one I popped out the flower in Melon Berry and added a pearl center, with Stickles all around. The beautiful ribbon is from Making Memories, and the Cuttlebug folder is Stylized Flowers.
The second card uses Melon Berry ribbon, a chipboard piece from Maya Road, Stickles and a Marvy scalloped rectangle punch.

Ahhhh Grandchildren!
I like this quote about grandchildren...here are a few more that made me laugh...
“The best baby-sitters, of course, are the baby's grandparents. You feel completely comfortable entrusting your baby to them for long periods, which is why most grandparents flee to Florida. “ ~Dave Barry (maybe this is why my grandparents escaped to Florida every winter??!!)
"Grandparents are there to help the child get into mischief they haven't thought of yet." ~Gene Perret (This one definitely applies to MY parents!)
Get Well Soon- TECC66
I'm stocking up on Get Well Cards...too many people coughing and sneezing around here! :)
This card is for TECC66, and I used the BEAUTIFUL Tea for Two set by Papertrey Ink. Papers are Ocean Tides, Spring Moss and White Stamper's Select cardstock, and Green Tea Leaves patterned paper. I also used Ocean Tides Satin ribbon, misc. buttons from my stash, a Bella Crystal Bonbon, and brads from the Basic Grey Two Scoops collection. I cut out the main panel with my Nestabilities. Enjoy- and if any of you are out there sniffling...get well soon to you too! :)
A quick card yet again for a Taylored Expressions sketch- this one was for TECC65. The main image is called Solidago Sprig and is by Rubber Stampede. Melon Berry, Spring Rain and Vintage Cream cardstock, Melon Berry Saddle Stitch ribbon, Melon Berry buttons, Melon Berry and Spring Moss ink, with a sentiment from the 2008 Anniversary set. That's a lot of Melon Berry!! :) Thanks for looking!

Gandhi knows his stuff...
I used Vintage Cream, Ripe Avocado and Spring Rain cardstocks, paired with Imaginisce patterned paper (it has a really pretty glitter to it). The Spring Rain I scalloped using my corner punch and ran through the Divine Swirls Cuttlebug folder. The sentiment was stamped on transparency using Staz On black ink. The chipboard I inked up using Ripe Avocado ink, then added some Stickles here and there. The ribbon is Spring Rain, and the stick pin comes from Making Memories.
Enjoy your Sunday folks!
