Here Comes the Bride...

I think Papertrey Ink's Aqua Mist and Everyday Blessings paper really lend to wedding cards. The soft, springlike combo of the two together make this card 'pop'. Very simple card to make...I stamped each of the images (4 in total) on the Sunshine Designs Wedding Cube in Brilliance Graphite Black and coloured them in with Copic markers, adding Spica glitter (using my marker) here and there. Then I set them aside and made my card base out of Aqua Mist cardstock, using my corner rounder punch to create the scalloped edge, and my white Sakura glaze marker for a dot in the center of each scallop. Then I tied around the card a piece of Aqua Mist satin ribbon. To the top half of the card I glue patterned paper from the Everyday Blessings 6x6 paper pack. Then I used my images, matted on Aqua Mist cardstock, and popped them up using pop dots.

Just a quick and easy wedding card

I had a friend request 6 wedding cards for the summer time....phewf- that's a lot of weddings! This is one of the 6 that I created. I used a cream coloured cardstock for my background- it has a slightly different texture than Bazzil and other cardstocks I've seen, and I really like what it lends to this card. For once I haven't used any stamping!!!!! Shocking!!! I almost felt ripped off after I finished it...not really, in fact I thought "well that was easy!" :)
My focal point was the pewter heart brad (Making Memories) that I set using my Cropadile. The pale blue cardstock was run through the Textile Texture Cuttlebug folder and cut out using a Marvy square punch. The scalloped square was also cut using a Marvy punch. The ribbon is all from my collection- a little bit of this and that. The pewter brads at the top are from Making Memories also. See? Quick and easy!

Sweet Berry Mother's Day

This card was fairly straightforward. Card base is Berry Sorbet cardstock , followed by Sweet Blush and designer paper from the Pink Patterns 6x6 paper pack ALL from Papertrey Ink. Next was more Pink Patterns paper matted on Berry Sorbet. I stamped the "Mother" and "Happy Mother's Day" sentiments (from the Women of Life set by Papertrey Ink) in Brilliance Graphite Black ink. The flower from the Women of Life set was stamped in Berry Sorbet ink and the middle circle was stamped in Sweet Blush and I added Diamond Stickles for accent. After cutting the circle out using my Nestabilities die I inked the edges with Sweet Blush ink and matted it on Sweet Blush cardstock cut out using the scalloped circle Nestabilities. I added a black dot to each scallop using my Sakura gelly roll marker, and then glued it all down. After added a black brad to each corner I was done!

Just keep swimming!!

These little fish from Gina K. Designs (the Just Keep Swimming set) are too cute. I could see them in my head being very sparkly and bright on a birthday card. I knew that the way I wanted to colour them would mean no patterned paper because that would be too "busy" but other than that I was stumped...hmmm, what to do!? So, off to a sketch challenge for inspiration. I used MFTSC11 on SCS for my card sketch and went from there! My card base is cream coloured Bazzil cardstock (for once, no white!) and layered with it is a bright blue that I ran through the Spots and Dots Cuttlebug folder. On top of that is pink cardstock matted on purple, with a sheer lime green ribbon tied on, and 3 crystals from Stamping Bella. I thought the sheer ribbon kind of gave it a "seaweed" kind of look...? My image was stamped on cream cardstock and heat set, then coloured with Copic markers. I used my glue pen to add glue to certain spots then added Art Glitter for extra sparkle! The image is matted on pink, then purple cardstock. The sentiment I stamped on cream and cut out using my Nestabilities. After inking the edges with a teal coloured Versacolor ink, I matted it on sparkly blue and lime green paper from Doodlebug Designs. The blue circle I hand cut and the lime scallop I used my Nestabilities for. It's popped up with pop dots. Not my favourite card, but it'll do. :)

A little birdie told me...

The soft colours in this card are so pretty, even if I'm not crazy about the card itself. Not to sure why...just not crazy about it! I used the bird from the Sunshine Designs Patch Cube stamp pack (same one that the flower image from previous post came from). I coloured it in with my Copic markers and added Spica glitter to the flower centers. I used a soft touch to add a little Aqua Mist ink around the edges of the image before matting it to Spring Moss cardstock. I used my Cropadile to punch 3 holes in the cardstock and added some brads. It's glued to patterned paper from the Everyday Blessings 6x6 paper pack, which is then matted to Aqua Mist cardstock. The card base is Spring Moss, and the ribbon is Aqua Mist twill. I used my sentiment (from Inkadinkado) on the bottom of the card, stamped in Brilliance Graphite Black ink.
This morning I participated in my first "webinar" for work. A little over librarians from around Ontario gathered together in their individual libraries, on a conference call to Gale online resources to learn more about the Electronic Databases that each library system has to offer....I'm sure you're asleep by now just reading that, but I enjoyed it and learned lots so I can help all my library patrons even more! :)

Flowers and Sunshine

Well, it's a little grey and overcast here, but I'm not going to complain because it's still balmy out and the sun will shine all day tomorrow (or so my trusty weatherman says!). I have a cheery, bright, flowery card to brighten my day (and yours too I hope!). Beware- it is much brighter and colourful than some of the cards I have posted lately...put your sunglasses on! :)

I stamped my flower from Sunshine Designs three times side by side with Brilliance Graphite Black ink and heat set it. After colouring it in with my Copic markers I rounded two corners using my corner punch. I added Diamond Stickles to the flower centres, and matted it on pink Bazzil cardstock. The card base is a light blue Bazzil cardstock, and in the lower right corner I stamped my "Thanks a Million" sentiment from the Essential Sentiments pack by My Favorite Things. The lime/light green Bazzil cardstock I ran through my Bloom Dots Cuttlebug folder and before gluing it down, I tied around a sheer blue polka dot ribbon (from Michael's) and a hot pink ribbon.

Two Scoops of Sunshine...

I saw a card I loved on the Papertrey Ink gallery and decided to use the sketch for my own creation. This is what I came up with! I used a butterfly from my Sunshine Designs cube (stamped with Brilliance Graphite Black) and coloured it in with Copic markers, adding Spica glitter to some parts of the image. The base of the card was made using paper from the Basic Grey Two Scoops 6x6 paper pad, and the white cardstock is from Papertrey Ink. The bottom paper pieces are also Two Scoops- little bits of scraps I was happy to use up. Tied around it all is pink stitched ribbon (Sweet Blush) from Papertrey Ink, as is the "Happy Birthday" sentiment (from the Birthday Basics set). I cut out and adhered the butterfly image, then used my Sakura gelly roll marker (black) for the little "trail" the butterfly left.

Howdy Pardner!!

I love this little "cowboy" from Lizzie Anne Designs- yes, another image I have stamped from my mother. :) I stamped in Brilliance Graphite Black ink and coloured him in with Copic markers trying to use colours as close as possible to the patterned paper I've used...which is the Cupcake line from Basic Grey. (all papers on this card, except the white cardstock is from Basic Grey) I doodled around the edges and matted the image to a coordinating solid that came in the Cupcake pack. In his hand I added a Sandylion balloon sticker that likely came from a pack bought at the Dollar Store...cheap and cute! The chipboard star is from Scenic Route and I covered it with patterned paper and inked around the edges. The brads are coordinating Cupcake brads from Basic Grey, and the sentiment comes from the Birthday Basics set by Papertrey Ink.



I'll leave you with a picture of my little guy Jake. He's 18 months and he TIRES ME OUT!! :) He go, go, goes allll the time...and that's what he's supposed to be doing! He's brushing his teeth in this picture- we sing the Raffi song "Brush Your Teeth" while he's doing it and he sometimes gets distracted from brushing because he's giggling at our singing :) Awwww he's cute!!

Gink K arrived today!!!

I called my mom this morning to ask her over for coffee with Jake and I, and she casually dropped into the conversation that the mail lady dropped off my Gina K. stamps at HER house...what??!! They arrived YESTERDAY and she didn't tell me until TODAY!? Of course I loaded Jake up in the wagon immediately and pulled him across the field (not exactly a smooth ride...) to my mom and dad's so I could get a look at those wonderful stamps! I love em'! I even received the free stamp set this month because I purchased 3 stamp sets, amongst other things... :) I'll show you my creations once I get those great stamps all inked up!

This gal is cupcakeabella, an image I 'borrowed' from my mom (Yes, she knows I stamped her!) She's just too cute! She's stamped in Brilliance Graphite Black ink and coloured in with Copic markers, with glitter added to the spots on her dress, and the 'cherry' on the cupcake. I doodled around the edges with black marker and sponged Berry Sorbet ink around before matting the image to a glittery turquoise paper from Doodlebug Designs. (that glitter paper kills my paper trimmer...eck.) The base of the card is Bazzil cardstock, the dp is My Mind's Eye, and the pinkish paper it's matted to is Berry Sorbet. Add some ribbon from Michael's and a few Making Memories brads and I was allllllmost done... The last step was to stamp my sentiment from Inkadinkado on white paper in Brilliance Graphite Black ink and cut it out, using my scissors to round the corners ( I realllly need to get the word window punch from SU).

Sisterhood of the Blogging Stampers 17!!!

Well I finally joined a Sisterhood of the Blogging Stampers group- group 17 that is! I've been wanting to for awhile and today I sat down and said just do it already! :) So here I am...I've been stamping for almost 2 years now and got started with scrapbooking but am not really interested that anymore- just cardmaking mostly with an occasional scrapbook layout featuring my favourite topic- my 18 month old son. :) I am busily trying to collect every single stamp in the world for my craft corner :) Teehee I wish!! I hope you enjoy my creations and I'm sure I will love all of yours my new SBS 17 friends!

Babies, weddings and birthdays- we have it all!

I haven't used this stamp in awhile so when I looked at it in my cute little Bella binder I wanted to give it a go! I stamped the image (Bella baby hanging bundle) in Brilliance Graphite Black ink and coloured it with Copics, adding Diamond Stickles to the flowers. It's matted on a shimmery butter coloured paper that I bought at my LSS- the Paper Pickle. Cardstock is all from Bazzil, and the coral coloured paper I ran through my Diamond's in the Rough Cuttlebug folder. The star brads are from Making Memories and I picked them up on Monday at Michael's-- phewf-- I'd forgotten how EXPENSIVE that place is!! The ribbon is Offray, and the tag punch is one of Martha Stewart's (another buy at Michael's), with the sentiment being from Papertrey Ink's Limitless Label's stamp set.

The wedding wishes sentiment used on this card is so classic and pretty. This is a card that looks nicer IRL. It comes across as too grey and *blah* on screen. :(
I used grey paper and patterned paper from the SEI Jolie Chocolat 6x6 paper pack. The link takes you to where I bought mine from- Scrappin' Great Deals. The white cardstock I ran through the Floral Fantasy Cuttlebug embossing folder.
Ribbon is from Michael's and is a realllly pretty sheer white with polka dots- so CUTE :) And finally, the sentiment from Verve Visual's Wonderful Wishes Remixed set.


Isn't she JUST ADORABLE??!! I love Eloise Greengrass from Stamping Bella. This image was sent to me by Ellen, just like the image in this post. I've intended this to be a birthday card, and it would probably suit a preteen girl. :) They usually like sparkly things. :)

I coloured her in with Copics and added Diamond Stickles to her dress in a few places. The sparkle IRL is just awesome. After sponging Berry Sorbet ink around the edges I matted the image on a scalloped rectangle I cut out using my Nestabilities dies. The white and Berry Sorbet cardstocks, and the Berry Sorbet stitched ribbon are all from Papertrey Ink, with the Berry Sorbet having been run through my Divine Swirls Cuttlebug folder. The sentiment is from Verve Visual's Starlight Starbright Remixed set.

Women of Life celebrate Mother's Day

I searched and searched and searched some more for ways to use the Women of Life set designed by Melissa J. Designs for Papertrey Ink. I think it's one of the most beautiful sets for women I've seen in a long time and my mind has been blank lately whenever I look at it. So, I headed on over to the Papertrey Inkpad gallery for some inspiration. I found a this card by Debbie Olsen which inspired me for my own creation. I used different colours of course, and changed up the sentiment, but all in all, it's still close to the original card and I'm really happy with the way it turned out.
I started with a Berry Sorbet cardstock base in a different shape than I usually do--the final product is still 5 1/2" by 4 1/4" but you cut 11" x 4 1/4" and score at 5 1/2" instead. Get it? :) Not so hard, and it mixes things up a bit...okay, that's a sign that I realllly don't live all that dangerously :)
I stamped my Women of Life stems in black, and petals in Berry Sorbet, with centres being Mountain Lake Versacolor. Then I added glue to each centre using my glue pen, and sprinkled turquoise glitter on them. The sentiment (from Inkadinkado) was cut out with my Marvy oval punch (the smallest one, it's blue) and the matting for it I had to cut out by hand because I don't have a coordinating punch or die cut (ahem, YET). Add some pretty ribbon to tie it all together and done!

YOU brighten my day!

What a sweet little girl to colour and I'm so sorry but I don't even know her name or who made her! I'd love for you to tell me if you know!!?? Edited to add: Ellen tells me this cute little gal is called Stephanie from Whipper Snapper...thanks Ellen! This cute image comes from Ellen who generously paid it forward to me last week when I received a parcel in the mail containing a bunch of cardmaking "goodies"!!! And it came on a rough day which made it all the better because it cheered me up immensely! It was great meeting Ellen and others at our lunch a few weeks ago in Petrolia. Thanks Ellen, you rock! And I'm collecting my own goodies so I can pay it forward too! :)

Anywayyyyy- back to the card! The layout comes from a sketch of some sort but I can't recall off the top of my head, so once I look it up, I'll let ya know!! :) I'm kinda scatterbrained like that. Papers used were White, Berry Sorbet and Sweet Blush cardstock from Papertrey Ink, and glitter paper from the Nana's Nursery Baby Girl stack by DCWV. I coloured my image in with Copic markers, adding some of my Spica glitter marker to the flowers. I sponged Sweet Blush ink around the edges and highlighted the image with a thin grey outline (using a Copic marker). The ribbon is the http://www.papertreyink.com/Berry Sorbet polka dot ribbon from Papertrey Ink, flowers are from my stash, and the mint coloured brads are Making Memories. Sentiment is from the Thoughtful Florals set by Verve Visual and just suits the image so much IMO!

I think I'm going to use this Stamping Bella Hibiscus circle for every card in the next little while- it does birthday, Mother's day, sympathy, friend, anything you want!! I've used it here for a Mother's Day card that was a little less 'pink' than some of the others I have made lately.

I used papers from the Basic Grey Romani 6x6 pack for my background (white Papertrey Ink cardstock is the base) and stamped my sentiment from Inkadinkado in black ink. My image was stamped in Brilliance Graphite Black ink and coloured in with Copic markers, with Spica glitter on the flowers. I cut it out using my Nestabilities, as well as the green background circle, and the orange scalloped circle. It's layered over top of the background papers using pop dots (those foam square thingies...). I added 3 black brads, and used my SU photo corner punch for the bottom left hand corner. After adding some sheer blue/purple ribbon I was done!

Balloonabella says "Happy Birthday!"

Balloonabella from Stamping Bella is so much fun to work with. Her dress and balloons scream for paper piecing. BSC15 was the layout for this card. I used Pink bazzil cardstock as my base, layered over top with black bazzil. Each corner has a white Making Memories brad (which I made sure were spaced evenly by using my Cropadile). In the bottom right hand corner I stamped my sentiment which comes from the My Favorite Things You Take the Cake set. I stamped it in white, then lightly went over it with my white Sakura Glaze marker to brighten it up a bit. The large white circle I cut using my Spellbinders Nestabilities, then ran it through the Swiss Dots embossing folder by Cuttlebug. I sponged pink ink around the edges of the circle and glued it down. The next layer was this fantastic ribbon that I GRABBED and bought the minute I saw it!! And literally the very next day was when I saw the inspiration challenge IC122 on SCS and knew it would be perfect! I stamped the bella in black ink on white Papertrey Ink cardstock and coloured her with my Copic markers. Her dress was stamped in 3 colours using the Splatter Pattern stamp by All Night Media, then cut out and glued on. Her two balloons are pieced with shimmery paper and a suede-like material, and cut out a bit. I doodled along the bottom of the bella, sponged ink around the edges and matted her on pink bazzil cardstock. Her shoes were coloured in using a black Sakura gelly roll marker. And done!

Here birdie birdie birdie!

Awww such a cute little birdie! This guy is one of those foil type stickers that you peel off and can colour in. He's stuck on a piece of transparency cut to fit in behind the punched window. I coloured him with my Sakura Glaze markers (haven't used those in awhile!) which I've decided I like again...haha. The card base is a piece of yellow cardstock, and I punched a hole in the middle using my Marvy Mega rectangle punch. Then I punched another rectangle using red cardstock, and cut it out to form a really thin border around the empty hole. THEN I punched ANOTHER rectangle in blue cardstock. It's all layered over each other and I secured the transparency using glue dots. The inside of the card has a white lining to cover up the back of the transparency piece, and so you can't see any holes. Then I tied on some ribbon from my stash and I was done! This little card was the Friday night drop in craft at the March 28th make and take at the Paper Pickle.

Another Baboo to you

Seriously, Baboo is such a weird name...I'd like to know where it came from :) This card was meant to follow CC159 on SCS, but I added some pink in there for good measure...ohhhh I'm feeling rebellious (okay, not really). The colour combo for the challenge was whisper white, soft sky and basic gray. Ummm-- as I look at it now it's quite obvious I added black as well. Oh well! :) The card also follows BSC22.

Baboo's Owl (the main image) is from Stamping Bella and was stamped in Brilliance Graphite Black ink and coloured in with Copic markers. I sponged black ink around the edges, and cut one corner off (okay, so really I smudged it up terribly and cut off the corner HOPING that it would look like I did it on purpose...) and matted it on black and Soft Sky paper. The card base is Soft Sky SU cardstock that I stamped the Splatter Pattern by All Night Media background stamp on with black ink. Then I glued down my Basic Gray (or my version of it) matted with Whisper White (once again, my version of it). On the gray I stamped my "Happy Birthday" sentiment which comes from the Birthday Basics set by Papertrey Ink. I cut a strip of white cardstock and ran it through my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder and inked gently over it with black ink and tied a thin black ribbon by Offray from Walmart around and glue it all down. Over that I layered my matted main image and added a little piece off the side with 3 pink snaps.

Shades of springtime?? Ohhh I hope so!

Well, it's been BEAUTIFUL weather here this weekend- sun shining and birds chirping, but with the recent death of a friend it's been kind of hard to enjoy it unfortunately... Even with as sad as I feel right now, we all know that it's hard, but we have to move on with our lives and never forget :)
I sat down this morning and worked on something a little "happy" looking to cheer myself up. I played along with SplitCoastStampers LSC162, where you could only use white and ONE other colour that is not a neutral. I chose to use white and a pale pink- which is actually Sweet Blush from Papertrey Ink. Okay, so I cheated a little and used a nice pale green Copic marker on the leaves, but I was using my creative license! :)
This hibiscus circle comes from Stamping Bella and is one of the newer purchases I made recently (teehee, I said ONE of...). I stamped it in Brilliance Graphite Black, and then heat set it. I coloured it in with my Copic Ciao markers, adding Spica glitter to the mini flowers in the image. I cut out the image with my plain circle Nestabilities and used Sweet Blush ink to sponge around the edges. Then I matted it on a piece of Sweet Blush cardstock cut out with a scalloped circle Nestability die.
The card base is a piece of Sweet Blush cardstock, and the white is Bazzil cardstock cut to size and run through the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder, and ticket punched with my SU punch. The DP is from Pink Patterns 6x6 paper pack from Papertrey Ink and is matted on Sweet Blush cardstock. I used Sweet Blush satin ribbon and secured it around the back of the white cardstock with glue dots, then glued the rest down, using dimensionals to pop up the central image. And then I was done!

Riley the Moose on his birthday (or on your birthday!)

I've not used Riley the Moose before (from Hanna stamps) but there's always a first time. If I ever get bored with my own stash- I just head over to my mom's and I'm sure to find something new and exciting there to play with. :) And that's where I found Coffee Riley- and that looks like how I would love to spend a morning- relaxing in my big chair with a coffee and cupcake! With my 18 month old boy Jake...well, in my dreams.

He's stamped with Brilliance Graphite Black and coloured in with Copic markers and Spica glitter on the cupcake. I cut him out with my Nestabilities dies, and used Aqua Mist cardstock from Papertrey Ink for the scalloped circle border. I sponged ink around the plain circle's edges with sage Versacolor ink, glued it to it's matting, then paper pierced on each scallop. The card base is a 5x5 piece of Spring Moss cardstock (Papertrey Ink), and the designer paper is from the Everyday Blessings 6x6 paper pack from Papertrey Ink., with both pieces being matted on a thin piece of Aqua Mist cardstock. I tied on some Aqua Mist polka dot ribbon, 2 green Bella baubles, and stamped my sentiment from the Birthday Basics set from Papertrey Ink. The Riley image is popped up with dimensionals. And done!

We've had some terrible news in our community today, and so for the next few days I'll likely not post. A young man who I went from kindergarten onwards with, and was still my neighbour and friend has passed away at a young age, and our hearts go out to his family. This is a small, loving community and it has hit all of us very hard. See you all at the beginning of next week.

Baboo to you AND there's always room for Sunshine and glitter!

Baboo is toooo cute. This stamp is called Baboo's Owl from Stamping Bella. Not so sure about the name- a little strange!- but the image sure is adorable. This is for TLC162 on SCS, Paper Tole. It's hard to see, but I've coloured the image twice, cutting out certain parts of the owl, and "popping" them up again with pop dots. I tried to colour him so he'd match the Basic Grey Sugared paper I bought at the Paper Pickle a week or so ago. I just LOVE the combo of browns, pinks, and mustary yellow- they really DO all work together! :) Except for the cutting out part, it really came together quickly. I kinda had it all planned out in my head, and for once it actually worked! The huge eyelets are from We R Memory Keepers, and after I used them on my card I made Tuesday night (see my mom's post on the class) I knew I would want to buy them to use again! The ribbon is from my stash, and the cute little sentiment from Inkadinkdo goes perfectly with Baboo's Owl! (It's stamped in bark ink from Versacolor. Add three brassy coloured brads and I was done!

Okay, this one uses a Sunshine Designs image- there was no name on the packaging! The sentiment is from Inkadinkado and will come in handy this Mother's Day!! I coloured the image with copics and used my glue pen to add some spots of glue, then sprinkled purple, aqua and pink glitter here and there. I doodled around the edges and matted it on a black scalloped rectangle cut with a Nestability die. The base of the card is made using Papertrey Ink's Berry Sorbet paper, and the patterned piece is from their Pink Patterns 6x6 pack. The pink ribbon is also Berry Sorbet polka dot from Papertrey, but the other two kinds is Offray from Walmart. After rounding the two bottom corners I was done! :) Have a GREAT day!

Mother's Day mayhem

I think I'm going to set up a table and sell my cards at an upcoming town garage sale weekend, and so since it is the season for all those type of celebrations, I'm busy making Mother's Day and Father's Day cards.
This one uses mostly Papertrey products like the card in the previous post also does. The card base is the standard size, made out of Berry Sorbet cardstock. The little pink squares of patterned papers are appropriately named Pink Patterns, all from the 6x6 paper pack. I believe I cut them all 1.5"x1.5" and matted them on the Sweet Blush cardstock. I stamped the Happy Mother's Day sentiment (from Inkadinkado) on white cardstock in the Sweet Blush ink, and sponged the edges with the same. It's matted on the Spring Moss paper, which was punched out with a Marvy Scalloped Rectangle Giga punch. The ribbon underneath is the stitched Berry Sorbet ribbon.

Ohhhhh Berry Sorbet and Sweet Blush...you make my day

I just LOVE how all of Papertrey's products coordinate with each other (well, DUH that's they way they were designed!!). I finally cracked into my papers, patterned paper, ribbon, ink and Birthday Basics stamp set that I received last Thursday in the mail...took me long enough!! The paper and everything else is just so luscious and divine! Worth the ENORMOUS shipping charges they now charge for international shipping (cough, cough, gasp!).

This card is based on WSC41 over at Beate's blog. Instead of a square image, I changed it up a bit, and did a circle. I used the Sweet Blush cardstock for my base, and cut and scored it so that I had a 5x5 cardfront to work with. (I'm kinda into the square cards right now...) Then I used some of the patterned paper from the Pink Patterns 6x6 paper pack - so pretty! :) Next I used my plain circle Nestabilities die to cut a white circle from Papertrey cardstock, and the scalloped circle Nestabilities die to cut a circle from another one of the Pink Patterns paper. On the white plain circle I used my new inks, Berry Sorbet and Sweet Blush to stamp my sentiments, both from the Birthday Basics stamp set. The gems are from my stash. I sponged ink around the edges of the white plain circle and was done!!
